Chapter 1.
-Clover-
I listened closely to the melody line that my piano teacher played for us on the Grand Piano. And as his fingers played the Eb major chord, memories flooded my head.
I remembered a specific memory. One with me and my mom in the car. We were driving to pick up my father from work. I was about 5 years old then. Mom had her Norah Jones C.D. in and we were listening to one of my mothers favorite songs by her. And as my mother sang the first few lyrics, she turned her head and looked at me. She smiled and brought her right hand over to me and laid it on my left thigh. "Come away with me and I will write you a song," my mother sang softly but strong with deep emotion in her voice. The same voice that drowned out everything else that was going on in the world. Her voice drew me in and a smile formed on my lips, as I watched my mother. And then, it happened.
My mothers voice was cut off as we went flying forward and my mothers head bashed into the steering wheel. I put my hands in front of me to stop my head from doing the same but as my hands hit the dashboard, they became weak and I heard several bones crack as I let out an ear piercing scream. I squeezed my eyes shut as the pain became more excruciating. I felt another car hit us from the opposite end flipping our van, and my right side slamming into the inside of my door. All the windows were shattered. And I was definitely hurt. As well as my mother but I couldn't turn my neck to actually check because of the pain when I moved it. Then, silence.
