Sunstar rammed into the russet tom before him. The tom fell over, and Sunstar pinned him. He put his paws on their legs and bit their neck. He bit the cat in exactly the right spot, because its eyes rolled back into its head. The tom, previously guarding Tawnypaw, was dead. Sunstar was ashamed of himself for being so worked up. He knew what he did was wrong. He raced to Tawnypaw and helped her up. He yowled for the cats to stop and retreat. They had done enough damage.
Tawnypaw was in shock. Did Sunstar really kill the cat? she though, astounded. She pushed the thought out of her mind as Sunstar called a meeting.
"Cats of ThunderClan!" yowled Sunstar, watching as the cats trotted to the clearing. "We completed our mission. However, I have something to confess." Sunstar looked really shaken up.
"Sunstar?" Petalheart mewed, padding up to the highrock. " Are you okay?" She looked at him, concerned.
"I killed the tom gaurding Tawnypaw." He mewed at last, regret filling his vibrant eyes. "I will ask StarClan for forgiveness. I will hope they meet me in a dream, and I will speak to them about this issue. I am truly sorry, Clan dismissed." Sunstar said, heading into his den.
Sunstar awoke in the territory. At first, he thought he was exiled. Then, he realised it was a dream. "Hello? Is anyone here?" He mewed, fear shaking his voice. A booming voice responded. A voice he recognized... Flashstar! He thought, smiling at the cats presence.
"I have come to hear what you wanted to say." She said, her booming voice aged slightly.
"Well, we attacked ShadowClan to save Tawnypaw. As I was fighting the cat gaurding her, my emotions overwhelmed me, and I killed the cat." He said, his vibrant green eyes dull.
"What do you need then?" Flashstar mewed, surprised at his confession.
"I would like to apologize" He said, looking at his paws. " Any punishment is accepted." He added.
"I will meet you tomorrow night. I will speak to the cat about your punishment. " Flashstar mewed, beginning to fade away.
The next night, Sunstar met with Flashstar.
"Your punishment is to jump off the Elm tree, and loose a life, just as you made Russetfur." Flashstar said, her amber eyes gleaming. "I trust you to do it, Sunstar. I must leave." She said, fading once more.
"I will do it as soon as possible. Thank you, Flashstar." Sunstar mewed, nervousness building up inside him.
The next day, Sunstar brought Petalheart to the Elm Tree. "My punishment is to jump off. I would like you to be here to take my body to camp, and wait for me to return. Pay attention, I might dislocate something and you will need to tell Marigoldtail." He said, nervous as a mouse being hunted.
"What?? Why??" Petalheart said, concerned once more.
"I killed Russetfur, a cat of ShadowClan. This is my punishment." He said, and leaped onto the tree. He climbed as far up as his paws would take him, and jumped off. All he could remember was the ground getting closer, and the world beginning to fade.
He was woken up by a cat in StarClan.
"We will let you rest here, for now." The she cat mewed, pointing with her tail to a nest made of clouds. "You completed your punishment. We can release you whenever you please." She mewed, looking at his dislocated shoulder. "Marigoldtail is treating your ody right now. Would you like to see?" She asked, smiling at his astounded look. "Look into this puddle. Do you see it?"
"No... I see Petalheart.. She looks shaken up. Is there any way I can tell why?" Sunstar mewed, looking at his mate.
"You cannot see, but I can. She is worried about you not waking up for two days." The she cat mewed, looking into Sunstars vivid eyes. "Would you like to send her a message?"
"That would be wonderful." Sunstar said, barely managing to contain his excitement.
"Say the message while looking her in the eye." The cat instructed, pointing to the puddle with her tail.
"Petalheart." Sunstar began. "I am in StarClan. I am resting, but will return at sunhigh." He finished, waiting for a response.
Her eyes lit up. Sunstar instanly felt better and went to his nest of clouds.
"See you at sunhigh!" The she cat mewed happily.
