Chapter 2: Miranda

When we finally boarded the plane, I was absolutely exhausted. I didn't know how I had the energy to even comb my hair this morning, and suddenly I was on a plane. To Europe.

I still couldn't really process what was going on, it was just so unreal. I couldn't even imagine moving to London straight after high school, with my best friend in the whole world.

It was too good to be true, but here I was, doing exactly what I thought wasn't possible. Allison and I were inseparable, ever since junior high. We'd just bonded; and from there we never left each other alone, and we were both fine with that.

I was so excited to experience this new adventure with her, having our own flat, shopping, partying... It just seemed like it was such a far fetched dream and it would never happen, but I continue to prove myself wrong.

Although Allison and I may be complete opposites, we get along so well.

She is mostly excited to study (which I don't understand how; considering we just escaped the hell hole of high school) and I'm more excited for; well I guess the "fun" aspect of it.

I'm surprised my parents let me go. If it wasn't Allison, then I probably wouldn't be here now. My parents absolutely loved Allison, her responsible nature and sensible attitude.

Her parents were a rowdy lot, so I never really understood were she got her maturity at such a young age from.

All this "travel" stuff was exciting but... There were things I was going to miss. Like the beach. Allison and I would go everyday after school and surf and just have a good time.

And of course my family. Even though it seems like we can't stand each other, I can't imagine a day without seeing my mom making breakfast in the morning, or my dad watching football on the couch.

But one of the hardest things to leave behind was my boyfriend. Carter. He was a really good guy; we got along really well. We were best friends, and yet we loved each other so so much...

Unfortunately I had to break it off. I didn't want to, god no. But I couldn't make him wait there for me. So I had to let him go.

Alli had been there for me through the whole process but every time I even think about it, I can feel the same emotions I did when I saw his face after I told him I had to end things between us.

After all of this reminiscing over my past, I wanted to talk to Alli about it. I turned away from the window and reached over for her arm, only to find her sleeping. I sighed, and decided to try my luck at getting some rest.
