Chapter One: Allison

"Hurry up Miranda!" I groaned for what seemed like the thousandth time.

I tugged my heavy luggage around the airport, weaving in and out of crowds of people, trying to find my gate.

Miranda wasn't far behind, but she was too distracted by her phone to really tell where she was going. I just rolled my eyes and hoped for the best.

Miranda had been my best friend since the first day of seventh grade; she'd talk to me when nobody else did, and from there we really hit it off. We went to high school together, and oh what a time that was.

We went through everything together, for as long as I could remember. And now, we've graduated high school (yes we survived; but barely) and we are moving from sunny California to foggy London.

It was a big leap we took; we worked hard to pay for our trip, and of course our parents helped us out. We sold our cars, our furniture, everything we had so that we had any extra bit of cash we could pocket.

And now were finally here, we are at the gate and boarding the plane to a new, exciting and foreign adventure. Together, as always.

I sat down on a black leather chair, carelessly throwing my luggage on the floor. Miranda soon followed; she was huffing and puffing, and looked quite distraught; her hair was a mess, one earbud tangled within it, and her face was pale. It was a bit early; 3 am to be exact.

She sat down next to me and rubbed her eyes. Unexpectedly, she snapped out of her lethargic manner and instantly bounced back to being cheerful, bubbly Miranda.

"Sooo, Alli." She said, one eyebrow raised, her hands clutching the arm rest of my seat excitedly.

I giggled.

"Yeah?"

"Europe. London. Hot boys, cute clothes, countless pubs-"

"And top class universities." I added.

She scoffed and playfully punched my arm, rolling her eyes.

"That's what you're looking forward to?" She asked, seeming a bit unimpressed.

"Well yeah; I mean I've been waiting for this since junior high. I mean, everything else you said sounds great and all too, don't get me wrong. But I can't believe the day has finally come, where I get to attend the university of my dreams-" I started.

"Alright there, lets stop before you get carried away." She teased, and we laughed.

The plane was finally ready for boarding, and I guess Miranda must've worn off on me because suddenly I felt more excited, more anxious... Just ready to go somewhere new, try something different.
