Even though I wasn't meeting J until 4, I spent what seem like all day getting ready. I'll never forget what I was feeling that day. I felt like a little kid getting ready to talk to their crush for the first time. It took everything I had to contain my excitement. But my only probl m was getting past my mother without her bombarding me with all these questions. Who was he, how old is he, does make good money, does he even have a job. You know, the basic mother questions. Anyways so there I was, 3:58, 2 minutes to go. I start easing my way towards the front door. 3:59! I'm actually gonna make it! "And where are you off to dear this late?" And this is why I swear that our parents can secretly read our minds. " no where of matter mother. Just out for awhile with a friend. I'll be back around 9." Come on J! "Oh and who is this frie-" " knock, knock!" " oh darn mother look at the time. Gotta go!" I sprint for the door and swing it open to find a perky and smiling J. "Evening star. Not too late I hope." I turn him around and try shoving him towards the car. all while my mother screams at me from the hallway. "Star! Who is that young man?" J looks over my shoulder to face my mother. " well where are my manners?" Both of his feet came to a firm stop. He turned fully around so that his whole body faced my mother. "You must be Star's lovely mother." He once again bowed. "J deeth madam. And might I say that your cooking smells unexplainably amazing." Mother turned every shade of red known. " well aren't you just a nice... uhh... tall ray of sunshine." How she said that while he's was standing there in a black and maroon suit I don't know. "And please call me Ms.D." She stood and smiled at him. "Well Mrs.D I promise to have your daughter back here no later than 9:00 pm." And with that he locked arms with me and together we marched proudly to his car. We sped to the mid- town market where we spent 2 hours shopping. While we shopped all J did was talk to me or glance at his watch ever couple of minutes. He was very serious about the concept of time. He made it his personal mission in life to never waste it. I don't know why he was so uptight about it. We were making great time. We made 6 laps around the entire market. And I can't even begin to imagine the looks we probably got from people. In a way I kinda couldn't blame them. We made the oddest pair. Him tall, proper, and dressed in a dark suit. Then me a average height, silly and laid back girl dressed in a sweater and skirt. Anyway we finally finished at the market and started to make our way to what J called the city's heart. Finally we stopped at a 2 story building that was being renovated. When I got out of the car I just stood and stared. "Just wait till you see her tomorrow night. She will be the gem of the city." And with that. He turned and marched in with the groceries. I followed close behind. I walked in to a what looked like main showroom of night club. A nightclub straight out of the 20's. There were 10 tables scattered across the room. And a random number of booths along the walls. Each table a was still bare. All except for one. Which coincidentally had been set for 2.
