Opposites attract

chapter 19

i  had managed to get back to my car and race after J. when i came to the top of the hill over looking the small valley where our community lied i was horrified by what i saw. both J's army and mine had met face to face on what looked like a battle field. it was kinda funny, when i said it all those times i didn't actually think that we were gonna meet ON a battle field. as i got closer i saw J at the front of his army. but here's what was also funny. he wasn't wearing anything to protect himself. he was dressed in one of his signature suits. when i got down to the field he was giving his men a rowdy speech.

" we can beat them! no... WE WILL CRUSH THEM!!!!!!!! WE WILL SHOW NO MERCY!!!! at the end of this day... it will be ME standing atop their pathetic lifeless bodies! and then we will march to the city... AND BURN IT TO THE GROUND!!!!!! and those who don't join us will suffer the same fate as these idiots have."

then i went to join the front of my army. it was my turn for my speech. i walked and stood in front of them.

" when i look around, i don't see soldiers like that asshole over there does, i see family. family who are willing to die so that others won't. i see family that has stuck by one another since the beginning. we will not back down, we will not go quietly, will fight, and will kick anyone's ass that dares to try and destroy our family. that includes... J DEATH!!!" they cheered and roared. then a voice rang out from the crowd. it was lee. "here we are don't turn away now." then another voice. it was ashlynn's "we are the warriors that built this town!" then the sisters stepped forward and started to sing. "here we are don't turn away now." then the whole army broke into song. "WE ARE THE WARRIORS THAT BUILT THIS TOWN!!!!!" before i knew it i was singing along side them. we didn't look like soldiers. instead of guns we had baseball bats, chains, few guns, and whatever else we could find. we weren't organized into lines, instead we were scattered about here and there. even though we didn't look like soldiers, we were still a fearsome sight. and while we sang a few of J's men left his side to come join our family. this meant... that we had a fighting chance.

finally we finished. and for a minute we just stood there. as if unsure what to do. then J did something i thought he would never do. " since you have cold feet, allow me to break the ice." he took a gun from a nearby soldier and aimed it at a 16 year old girl and fired. she fell to the ground and was instantly in a pool of blood. screams of pain rang out from my family. and finally i started running. it was those few seconds that seemed to last forever. as if everything stopped all at once. while i was running i looked next to me on both sides and saw the greatest thing ever. i saw my family charging with me into battle. then finally... both sides met.

we met with thundering impact. bodies on both sides fell instantly. all you could hear was screaming and shouting. i ran around fighting any soldier who crossed my path. when i saw that we were starting to lose i had an idea. " ALL OF MY FAMILY! HEAD FOR THE COMMUNITY! WE MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE THERE!!!!" as my family started to run for the community, J ordered his men to open fire on the ones who fell behind. when those who could make it inside got there the gates were closed and barricaded. the rest stayed outside to fight. once i was inside i met up with the rest of my main group and we headed towards the main mansion. "everyone grab whatever weapon they can find and stay close." just then an explosion rang out from outside. "STAR! THEY BROKE THROUGH THE MAIN GATE! THEY'RE STARTING TO FLOOD INSIDE!" the sound of gunshots got closer and closer. "DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO HOLD THEM BACK! WE HAVE A CHANCE TO TAKE THEM INSIDE THE COMMUNITY!" then screams started to come from the front of the mansion. some of J's troops had made it inside the mansion and were killing everyone they saw.

we managed to find refuge in an empty hallway. Norton and Dakota were leading the way. the group had formed a barrier around me. we stopped to catch our breath. "if we continue down this hallway we should be able to get to the back doors and regroup at the apartments." then the doors at the other end of the hallway started to get shot. "they're trying to break through." Norton stepped forward and fired a few shots. men on the other side started screaming and stopped firing. "Lee, take this shotgun and get the sisters, Kayla, and star to the complex." it was then that i knew what was happening. "but wait what about you and Dakota?" they both looked grimly at each other. tears started to fill my eyes. "Dakota and i are gonna go see penguin and Kim." everyone broke into tears. final hugs and goodbyes were exchanged. "we'll tell penguin that you all said-" the doors flew open and a group of soldiers opened fired on Norton and Dakota. they both started to return fire. " HURRY UP AND GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE! DON'T WORRY ABOUT US! WE'LL SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN ONE DAY!" i turned and ran for the doors and the end of the hallway. when we got through we slammed, locked, and barricaded the doors behind us. then we all stood in cold silence and listened to the events that were unfolding on the other sides of the doors...
