so Jaden and Carlee are going to have a sort of fall out. I don't want them to be FWB D: don't worry, it's all planned out in my head, so yeah :) Enjoy.
Chasing Cars
Chapter Four
"Carlee, are you really going to make me do this?" I asked, staring out the window shield of my car, looking into the windows of the local gas station. A few days had passed since our night together, and things between us weren't as changed as you might think. We haven't kissed since that night. Carlee decided that if I was going to try to have a real relationship with Nikki to see if it would work out, then I couldn't kiss her anymore, because it was practically cheating. I reluctantly agreed. Spring Break was almost over and we hadn't really spent much time with the rest of our friends, so we went over to Tyler’s house. Tyler was a guy who was on the football team with me, he was the quarterback. He was cool, we weren’t exactly close or anything, but he was a last resort. We weren’t going to my house for obvious reasons, my parents still trying to coax me into talking with them, and we definitely were not setting foot in Carlee’s house. So when Tyler called to hang out, it was perfect.
Carlee, Remy, Summer, Taylor, and I had all piled into my car and drove to his house, where we began playing Truth or Dare. When Carlee had demanded that it was her turn to ask me, I chose dare. Turns out, that was a big mistake on my part. And I realized that now that Carlee, Summer, and Taylor were piled into my car and forced me to drive to the gas station.
Carlee sighed. “Yes, Jaden, I really am going to make you do this.” She replied.
“Can’t you just choose something else? Anything?” I begged. Seriously, this dare was the most embarrassing thing I could think of.
She shook her head, her lips pressed into a tight line. “Just go before the line gets too long.”
So she pushed me out of the car and I made my way into the shop area. I thought about making up a lie, saying they’d run out of stock, but I seriously doubted that the girls would buy the lie easily, and I was not going to be forced into the store again, so I spotted the aisle with the products on it and made my way to the specific kind she wanted me to buy.
I picked up the big packet of Maxi-plus pads and quickly made my way down the aisle before people began staring. Before I could turn the corner of the aisle though, something caught my eye; a pregnancy test. I still had yet to tell Carlee of my scare the other morning, where I feared her being pregnant. It had floated around the back of my mind, but I didn’t dare ask her. Every time I was given the opportunity to ask, the words caught in my throat and I couldn’t force them out. The thought seemed to have never crossed Carlee’s mind, and she seemed somewhat content to just forget that it ever happened, and I didn’t want to be the one to deprive her of that feeling she got when she could pretend she was normal and that she was not broken.
I looked around quickly before picking up the test and making my quickly to the counter. Luckily, no one was there in line, so I put my stuff on the counter fast. The cashier eyed me as he scanned the items and told me the total.
As I handed him the money, I said, “It was a dare.”
Understanding flashed in his eyes and he bagged the items and handed me the bag, receipt, and change. “Get ‘em back with a good one.” He said.
I smiled and nodded, and quickly ran out of the store. I didn’t want the other girls to see the test, so I took it out of the bag and slipped the box into my big jacket pocket. I opened the door to my car and got in, buckling my seatbelt, and then chucking the bag at Carlee in the passenger seat.
