I closed my eyes as he kissed me again and he put his hand on my cheek. I suddenly opened my eyes and everyone was staring at us wide eyed. I stopped kissing him and everyone cheered. Everyone went crazy and we locked the classroom door and started getting on top of desks and dancing. Papers flew everywhere and the radio blasted "Get Ugly" by Jason Derulo. I couldn't stop myself, I joined with them. By the time "Stressed out" was on, teachers were at the door pounding. But we ignored them. It was like I couldn't pull myself to stop. Soon Ms. Miney came in with the room keys in her hand. "Class! What is going on..." She walked over to the radio and turned it off. We stared at her, nervous, scared, regretful. She said," Well I have to punish you, obviously." We all groaned. She put her hands in the air. "Well what am I supposed to do?! Let you free for this? You all have detenion for one week. Lunch hour. Now SIT DOWN!" We all quickly sat down.
I slowly walked out of the classroom after eighth hour. I grabbed my stuff out of my locker and checked my phone. A text from Zach with a blushing emoji..."Hey that was crazy in Math Lab today." I replied,"OMG yes! Cali was behind it all! And now I have a week of detention because of her!" He immediately saw it and said,"Yeah." I put my phone away frustrated. Time for a volleyball game. I ran to the locker room and changed into Bootie shorts, a sports bra, and a tight, spandex material under armour T-shirt. I was slipping on my black, Under Armour kneepads as Jenna, Rowan, Jojo, and Ahna walked in. They squealed,"OMG you and Zach KISSED!" They hugged me. I shrugged jokingly."How do you know I haven't before?" I walked to get my volleyball shoes on as they giggled. "We know for one BIG reason..." I looked at them. "And what is that?" They giggled for a minute before answering. "Your face while you guys were today! You looked SO surprised!" They laughed so hard as I rolled my eyes and smiled.
As we all walked into the gym, Amy came up to me and squealed,"OMG,OMG,OMG!!!" I looked at her,"What? If it's about me and Zach kissing, I know... Aww so cute!" I laughed she rolled her eyes,"No silly! Asher gave me a ring!" My mouth dangled open. "Oh my gosh, seriously? Wow! That's really nice Amy! What is it resembling?" She started jumping up and down,"To be his girlfriend forever! He said he's been waiting for a WHOLE month to give it to me but he's been to nervous I'd say no. But since we kissed today, he finally felt confident and he gave it to me! Oh also, are you ready for that game against St. Croix? Zach, Asher, Jack, and all the volleyball players boyfriends are coming!" I couldn't help jumping up and down too. "Really?! Yay! This is our first game!" She nodded. We had been practicing for a month and a half now, so this was our first game. Our next game was this Saturday. All the way to Barron, Wisconsin. The boys are coming to all our games this year. They now can ride the bus to the schools with us because they got permission. They're even making signs with all the cheerleaders that AREN'T in volleyball, usually we only have three cheerleaders and a couple alternates. I love it when Lilly goes to out games because she's the flyer. She's the lightest so all the cheerleaders hold her up. Lilly's a gamer but she is really good at doing flips in the air when we throw her and she's SO flexible. When she was little she was in gymnastics for eight years. From when she was five, till when she was thirteen. I'm pretty sad that she's not a real cheerleader but we don't have any room for her. she doesn't care but when we have her at games, she flips and cartwheels her heart out. She says it reminds her of her childhood.
We were putting each others hair in braids, buns, high-ponies, low-ponies, every hair style you could think of that won't let your hair fly around. Finally we started practicing. Amy and I have a special serve NO ONE else can do. Not even our coach. It's really hard to explain how to do it. We call it the comet serve. Because it goes as fast as a comet, and it turns in the mid air like a comet. We were practicing volleyball at the park and we randomly did it. We both have one thing in common, an extra bone in our thumb. Amy and I have the same birthday, June twenty-eighth. We both went to the doctor a couple years ago because we couldn't do underhand serves and it stressed us. They said that we just had an extra bone. So the bone makes our "comet serves" special serves no one else can do. But we thank our coach because she was the one who said after the appointment years ago,"Who cares, you can do your overhand serves and you can make something up! Maybe that bone is special." She finished with a wink and walked away. I remember that memory by heart, it was inspirational to me.
We started warming up by serving to the other side of the net, then St. Croix walked in. "Oh gosh," I said," They are all really tall." All my friends laughed with me. I was pretty short. We all put our giant, maroon bows in and formed a huddle. "G-O, G-O-P, G-O-P-H-E-R-S! Golden... GOPHERS!!! WHOO!" That was our chant, it's either that or, Hussle, Hussle show your muscle! Let's go gophers! We tightened our high ponies and walked up to coach. She grabbed her clipboard and wrote the numbers down. "Ummmmm, numbers 11, 4, 17, 23, 12, and 7 go out to the floor please, good luck girls." She smiled. "Thanks, coach Towaski." I was number eleven, always. In basketball, softball, and volleyball. We ran out to the floor and everyone who was there supporting our team cheered. All the Gopher fans sat on one side of the gym, all of the black hawk fans on the other side. People rooting for the black hawks team went all out. Literally, all out. There were faces painted black and orange fully, huge nine foot by four foot flags, and people who couldn't find room on the bleachers sat on black hawk blankets. Fuzzy ones, homemade ones, and felt-knot blankets. "Wowza!," Amy said," That's a LOT of black and orange!" I nodded. We looked at Jojo and she fake gagged. We laughed. All of a sudden the whistle tweeted and they served. I bumped the ball to Amy, she set the ball to Jojo, and Jojo spiked the ball over the net. I don't know if I mentioned it but Jojo is very tall. Back to the game, one point for the gophers. The crowd cheered. The announcer said," Only thirty seconds into the game and the gophers ALREADY spike! They might have this in the bag!" The black hawk fans scowled and rolled their eyes and started to murmur to one another. After a forty-five minute, sweaty game. We won by ten points. The cheerleaders cheered and shook their pompoms. Zach ran up to me,"Nice job Saigie!" He hugged me. I smiled," Thanks Zach." But then Cali came up to us,"Yeah Zach thanks," She rolled her eyes," Do I get a compliment?" She put her hand on his shoulder but I smacked it off, I couldn't believe it though when I did. "Back off Cali," I glared at her bravely. She narrowed her eyes," You'd better watch it Callahahn." She strutted away. Zach looked at me with wide eyes. I shrugged," Well she'd better." He shook his head," It's not you I'm surprised of, it's her... Does she like me?" I pushed him for thinking that," She'd better not." He laughed and he hugged me goodbye and went off with his friends, all of them except for Tommy. Who was making out with Jojo in a dark corner. Jenna, Amy, Rowan, Ahna and I laughed. They saw us and their faces turned bright red. We saw them mouthing goodbye and he walked away to his clique. Jojo walked towards us,"Hehe my excuse: I couldn't help it." WE all laughed until our sides hurt. Rowan spoke up,"One I'm famished, two I'm dehydrated, three... I want Starbucks." We laughed again. "Well we did just burn, like, one million calories... Let's go get some Starbucks and donuts and have a sleepover at my house," I suggested. "YES!" Everyone said at the same time.
