Request: You and Jack go to a new year's eve party and a lot goes down
"What happened to a quiet night in?" I grumbled as Jack and I climbed up the driveway of the house. I might have spent an hour getting ready, but I was prepared to complain until I was fulfilled.
"Don't be so pessimistic, Y/N. You know you wanna start 2017 off with a bang." He coaxed, smiling at me while nudging my arm until I cracked a smile as well.
"Alright, true." I agreed, sighing as I looked up at the house that seemed to be vibrating with life. "And Rupp does throw the best parties..."
"That's what I'm talkin' about. C'mon, we're gonna have the grandest time tonight. Guaranteed." He rose his brows.
Once I gave in, he wrapped an arm around my waist, and we ventured into the booming atmosphere together. Right away, I was met with the stench of sweat and alcohol, but what else could I expect at a new year's eve party? We wove through the crowd to get to the DJ booth, where we greeted Dillon with hugs.
"Ayyy, it's Mr. and Mrs. Johnson!" He announced with a wide smile. "Y'all came just in time. The party's just getting started."
"Really? Looks like the party's been going on for five hours." I laughed, looking around.
"Nah, you ain't seen nothing yet. Johnson, you up for a lil' freestyle later on?" The two clapped hands.
"For sure, man. We're just gonna chill out for a while." With this, Jack took my hand and led me to the refreshments. "And what would the lady like?"
"How 'bout a little champagne?" I proposed.
"Of course, of course. The classy stuff, I like it." He grinned while I playfully rolled my eyes. "I, on the other hand, prefer to rock the hard stuff on new year's eve."
"I hope you'll be sober enough to give me a midnight kiss when the ball drops." I quirked a brow, taking my drink from him. "Otherwise you're gonna start the year off as a sad, lonely man."
He just scoffed, waving his hand like it was no big deal. "You underestimate me, babe. Even if we're not around each other during the countdown, I'mma swoop in like fuckin' Batman or some shit and give you the best midnight kiss in the history of midnight kisses." He colorfully described like he so often does, although it made me smile nonetheless.
"And if you don't?" I challenged with a smirk.
"I give you permission to disown me." He nodded, clinking his red cup to mine before pecking my lips. "I got you, babe. I promise."
Funnily enough, I think I was the first one to get drunk between us, but at least I could still hold myself up. Everything was a blur, but upright. I mostly danced the night away with my girls while Jack hung out at the DJ booth with his boys. As much as I protested this party earlier, I admit I don't think I would rather be anywhere else but here tonight. There was no better way to bring in the new year than to spend it with all of my closest friends plus about 100+ other people. So when Rupp started broadcasting the live feed of the celebration at Times Square, I couldn't have felt luckier to have the life that I do.
Eventually the music toned down, and the energy lifted as it grew closer and closer to midnight. There were party hats and noise makers going around, while more drinks were being poured and group selfies were taken. At the ten minute mark, I started looking around for Jack, wondering if he really was going to stick to his word and jump out of nowhere. That would be one hell of a new year's kiss, but even if the whole shebang didn't happen, at least I'd still have him.
Five minutes later, I still couldn't find him, even after circling the entire downstairs twice. I figured maybe he went to the bathroom or upstairs for a breather, but low key I was a little worried that we wouldn't be able to bring in the new year together. I mean, it wasn't that big of a deal if we weren't with each other when the clock hits midnight. I just thought it'd be a nice memory to have for the future.
