“You were given this life because your strong enough to live it.”
This is the words I hold to live up my life and helps me overcome any obstacles in life.
As I open my eyes and inhaled I realized that I have class to attend to. I hurriedly fix myself up and put on my uniform and drove off to my school located at Quezon City, Manila.
I arrived at my school happily waving at my friends and schoolmates like I always do every day.
When I enter the room a minute before our professor arrive and he ask as to introduce ourselves knowingly it our first day at school, as my turn arrived I stand in front and introduce my self hi guys I am Christian Santos and smiled lively.
But suddenly my attention drifted away and focus on a girl who’s not paying attention in the class rather she’s looking at the window with a mixed emotion written in her eyes that I cant quite understand what it is.
As our introduction was over I learned that her name is angel Salvador and I am quite confused by her attitude because as I enjoyed singing and goofing around with my friends there she is alone and not bothering herself to talk to somebody and maintain her dull and void looking eyes.
That makes me more interested in her.
As the days passes just like a leaf falling in the tree each day Angel’s attitude didn’t change at all.
As everyone enjoy their school life I notice that she alone didn’t have any interest in making friends and anything that surrounds her that much.
The more I look at her intensely the more I get puzzled about her the way her eyes filled with nothing.
Hey Christian what are you looking at? My friend asked me.
Nothing I replied and we continue to sing and play instrument.
Me and my friends joined in music club since we were freshmen.
I live my life to the fullest and carefree while on the other hand angel is opposite.
I don’t see her talking with anyone she looks at the view through the window beside her while the air flows her hair rather than to talk to someone.
One afternoon as I walk past through the hallway planning to go to the school clinic because I have a headache.
When I open the door I was shock and embarrassed, and quickly close the door.
My cheeks becomes hot and reddish. The view I saw a while ago registered again in my mind and I can't help myself to blush.
I saw angel changing her uniform into P.E uniform and I am shock to see her left chest wherein her heart’s located having scars around a metal device.
Angel suddenly appear in front of me breaking my deep thoughts she grab and pull me with her and brought me in the school garden.
I notice that she’s quite uneasy and anxious.
When she suddenly broke the awkward silence and told me that she has a pacemaker that keeps her heart stable.
What shocked me the most is she revealed that she limited heartbeats and that is the reason why she isn't talking to someone, because she doesn’t want to get attached and endangered her life.
She said she isn’t the kind of person who’s strong enough to risk.
She also showed me her phone consisting a application that helps her to know how many heartbeats she has left.
Please keep it a secret I don’t want to live my life seeing people eyeing me with pity. She said
I’m really confused and somehow I understand her attitude because she’s just trying her best to keep her heart secured.
