A/n: this was originally intended to be in the first chapter, but it didn't fit so I'm putting it as a sort of prolgue Enjoy 😊😊😊

From the day she was born to her late teens Jay was in the circus with her father. Her mother had died when she was very young, so it was her dad that raised her. He was a trapeze artist in Pinder's travelling circus. She grew up performing alongside her father, while learning about some of the other acts in the circus. By the time she was 15 she had toured Europe 9 times, America 4 and Australia twice. She was a highly skilled acrobat, being confident in everything from the trapeze to high bars. She had also been taught by her friends and their families to throw knives at people, shoot flaming arrows at targets the size of football's , how to walk on a high wire and, her favourite skill of all-performing with the animals of the circus. She often worked with elephants, lions, horses and all major of exotic creatures.

But that all changed when she was 17. Her father fell ill and they both had to drop out of the circus. Jay was devastated, but she had to take care of her dad. Her father died a year later, and by that point Jay already had a steady job and an apartment. With her ex.

She decided to hang up her 'brave Bonhams' leotard for good and retired. It is now 3 years later, and she missed the circus every day. But most of all, she missed all her friends.

She had toured the world with these people and they were practically family, and she hasn't seen any of them in 4 years. the only friend she kept in contact with was Artemis, one of the archers at the circus. The two girls had been inseparable since children, and she had always been there for Jay.
