STEF POV

Mama no! Please! Please!" Callie said holding onto me harder then last weekend when I had dropped her off at her fathers. I had to admit she had some grip for a six year old as I could feel her finger digging into my skin.

"Love, listen to me babygirl I know you want to stay with me I know sweetheart but you can't right now. You can't my love." I gently soothed in her ear but I knew more then anything she did not want to hear that. Truth was I didn't want to hear it myself but I needed to be strong for her, I needed to be the adult.

"But why mama?! Why?!" Please!" She begged as I knelled down with her in my arms hoping when she might would let go. That however did not happen as she continued to hold onto my neck not letting go for anything.

"Callie come on you have school tomorrow let's go." Robert said in a more annoyed tone then I would have liked as my little girl refused to budge from me.

"No!"

"My love, my love listen to me. Listen to mama ok. You have to let go sweetheart. Ok? Because if not then I can't go to work and help save people."

With that she moved her head from my shoulder now innocently looking into my eyes as they were consumed with tears. Literally every tear.

"Can they get another police officer mama?" Her voice cracking as she began to sniffle.

"No my love. They are all working too sweetheart. You want me to help save people right my love?" I gently wiped her tears from her cheeks sweetly kissing her forehead.

"Yes sweetheart?" I asked again as she now nodded her head hesitantly.

"Ok my love then you have to let go of mama and let me put you down."

I could see the confliction in her little six year old face as I gently lowered her to the ground knelling myself to her level. Every Sunday night it was the same routine of me reassuring Callie that I would pick her up from school Friday, that we would spend the entire weekend together and that no one would take her from me. It was just so difficult for her to understand that I wasn't going to leave her for it seemed she was terrified that I would.

"Now my love how many sleeps until Friday?" I asked as I could hear Robert let out a big sigh. Nonetheless I ignored his rude ass and focused on my little girl for he would get his later. I would most certainty confront him about what he said to Callie about me. There was no way in hell he was getting away with that shit ever.

"5 sleeps mama." She whispered softly.

"That's right my love. 5 sleeps. And you have your calendar to mark it off?"

"Yes."

"Good girl so you are all set. Now promise me you will be good in school ok. NO sneaking to Vice Principal Adams office and obey your father. Ok?"

Her eyes remained on the ground as her small hand remand in mine.

"Sweets?"

"Yes." her voice barely audible as she yet again wrapped her arms around me neck. I couldn't show her or tell her that this broke my heart just as much as hers if not more.

"I love you mama."

"I love you too sweetheart. I love you so much."

"Alright Callie lets go. Time to get ready for bed." Robert chimed in as yet again Callie wouldn't pull away from me."

"No!" she yelled.

"Callie listen to Daddy ok honey. Go on my love. It's late and you gotta get ready for bed my love."
