Girlfriends

STEF POV

"Want another pancake babygirl?" I said smiling as I happily flipped over the pumpkin pancakes for us while Callie sat at the kitchen table smiling widely as I turned around seeing her stuff her face.

"Sweets there's plenty why are you stuffing your face my love." I laughed.

"Cuz I like them mama." she said with mouth full.

"Love we don't talk with food in our mouth. Finish chewing sweets."

"Ok mama." she said laughing as I flipped a few more placing them on my plate. I could only smile and watch her eat on this Tuesday morning for and I was feeling more grateful then anything. Taking a seat I leaned over and softly kissed her forehead.

"Mama loves you. You know that right my baby?"

"Uh huh." she nodded as I gently pushed the bangs off her forehead and kissed her small nose letting out a wink. "We need to trim these bangs. Can't see that cute little face of yours."

I leaned back taking a sip of my coffee still watching her enjoy her food and somehow still not really believing that she was here.

"Mama?"

"Yeah baby?"

"Where did Vice Principal Adams go?"

"She went to work love. Why do you ask sweets?"

" Is she your girlfriend?" She asked innocently as my eyes now bugged out as she stuffed more pancakes in her mouth. I had to remember how observant my daughter really was and I also had to remember that Lena and I were trying to somewhat keep our relationship a secret even if we had been poor at that last night. However I was pretty sure that both my mother and Mike were privy to it and possibly even Callie. I looked back into her eyes as nonchalantly as possibly letting out a smile.

"Why do you ask that honey?"

"I saw you kiss her mama." her eyes wide and curious.

Good lord. I thought to myself.

"Well friends kiss babygirl."

"Not like boyfriends and girlfriends. They kiss on the lips." she giggled as I realized she must have seen Lena and I kiss this morning before she left.

"What do you know about boyfriends and girlfriends missy?" I said picking her up and placing her on my lap as she giggled.

"They go on dates and watch movies." she said playing with my necklace.

"Yeah?"

"Uh huh. And they get married."

"Well that's romantic huh?"

"Yup." she smiled.

"Babygirl listen, Lena and I are friends my love. Friends who care about one another and want to help each other. Is that ok?"

"Yes. I love her. I told her." I could only smile very wide for Callie didn't tell anyone that but me and her grandmother. It was heartwarming how she had taken to Lena in such a short amount of time.

"That is very sweet baby. I bet she loves you too." I gently pushed her bangs from her forehead once again.

"She does she told me. And she let me watch Finding Nemo on her phone."

"Oh wow. That's very nice of her."

"Can we invite her over mama? We didn't get to finish the movie."

"I think so love. I'm sure she would love to finish it sweetness."

She looked into my eyes again letting out a wide smile as I kissed her sweet forehead.
