Nothing.
Nothing but blank space.
It was just the stars and the never ending space which was all black. An infinite amount of stars, half already dead; they were always there. They were visible from anywhere, but you couldn't tell which one was which.
The stars liked to make sparks pretty often. It expanded their area and more stars were formed, including cold meteors which weren't that noticeable due to their size. It was all because of this one star in the middle of nowhere in space. It was normal as any other star, but just bigger in size.
If there were stars, then there were galaxies. If there were galaxies, then there was a universe.
All of this was a continuous space that was unoccupied.
The stars twinkled in their spots, shining light all around. Comets flew by once in a long while.
Comets. They were icy bodies that released gas and dust in space.
Nothing would possibly stay like this if it wished to, but in this, not everything is mandatory.
