Ch. 2

We had just finished and were just kinda sitting there, on my floor, in silence. I was trying to get the courage to start a conversation but thank God he did first.

"So... You like math?" He asked trying to get the ball rolling.

"Not really" I said with a slight shrug, "it's never been my thing, I much prefer reading."

"Really!? Me too!" He said with a hint of excitement.

"Are you serious? You don't seem like the reading type." I said obviously being curious.

"Yea, I mean that's what a lot of people say. I just love the feeling of the paper in my hands, the smell of the pages, the places your mind goes when you get that perfect book that you just can't put down... Ya know? Just... Reading."

I honestly had stopped listening at 'people' just hearing him talking like he did, being so passionate about the books. Just... Understanding.

"Kellin?" He said.

"Huh, what?" I answered being extremely embarrassed.

"I asked what your favorite book was." He said, a grin spreading across his face.

"Oh, um, the Unwind series is pretty good."

"Really? Bro those are my favorites too, man we have so much in common!" He said nudging my shoulder, it didn't hurt like I expected it to. He was very... Gentile (to spite his huge arms)

"Cool." I said gushing to myself because the most perfect guy ever just touched me. He actually touched... ME. He slid a piece of paper my way, I looked at him for a second then picked up the folded parchment near my knee.

"Just incase." He said looking down and shrugging with a slight pink coming onto his cheeks. I opened the paper and it was, of all things, his phone number. He. Just. Gave. Me. His. Mother. Fucking. PHONE NUMBER!!! I felt my cheeks go red and was desperately thinking of what to say so I just went with something simple.

"Thanks"

Dammit Kellin, thanks, fucking thanks, that's the best you could do? I was pulled out if my thoughts when Vic said,

"I better get going, see ya later, bye"

"OK, I'll walk you out."  I said before realising it and feeling my cheeks getting hotter. I just stood up and walked with him downstairs. He smiled and waved when we got to the door, I waved and cracked a small smile myself. I heard one more thing before I shut the door.

"CALL ME!" I heard Vic scream before ducking into his car, my smile got bigger and gave him a thumbs up before closing the door and feeling my face catch on fire.

"Today was a good day." I mumbled to myself on my way back up to my room. "Maybe just... maybe... I might actually have a chance." But then I remembered he was straight, why are all the good guys straight!?

I went to my room and got some PJs then took a shower, I did a little reading then decided I wanted to call Vic, but how? What would I say? What if he was with some girl? What if it was too soon? But then I thought I might as well because he's straight right? Right. I pick up the phone and type in the digits... One ring... Two rings... In the middle of the third ring, he answers.

"Hello, whose calling please?" He said in a very polite, quite voice.

"It's Kellin." I said just above a whisper.

"Oh! Hey Kells!" He said with his mood instantly seeming to brighten, "How are you?"

"Good, just took a shower" I say trying to stay cool even though I was ecstatic that he called me Kells again.

"I'm in the middle of a book."

"Oh I'm sorry! I can let you go!" I said with a little panic in my tone, I always got pissed when people interrupted me when I was reading.

"No! No! You're fine! I would rather talk to you anyway" he said very shyly and honestly it was fucking adorable. "Hey sinse were gonna be spending a lot of time together this semester, there's something I should tell you and I won't make shit awkward if you don't." He said but it seemed like he was questioning himself, I didn't like that.

"Shoot." I said trying to sound normal.

"Um, well," he said practically whispering, "I'm, ummmm... Well I'm, I'm, gay." He sounded almost sad saying it, I just wanted to wrap him in a hug and tell him it was OK.

"Me too, no big deal bro." I said while practically fan-boying out of my bed, I was soooo happy. Now maybe I really did have a chance with Vic, just... Maybe.
We stayed on the phone till 2am talking about God only knows what. We finally hung up after an exchanging if good nights and I fell asleep smiling, this was just amazing.
