Ashton & the Beast

Chapter 1

Ashton's P.O.V

"I'll be back dad!" I told my dad as I exited my house.

"Be safe!" He called out to me.

"I will." I told him as I closed the door behind me. I walked to the village, I was going to the library to get another book. This is my 5th book this week.

The village is about 30 minutes from where I live and that's from only walking. Our car broke down a while ago so I've been walking to the village. My dad is trying to fix it, he invents stuff, sorta but he tries so that's ok.

My mom died giving birth to me so it's been my dad and I. He has been busy raising me that he never found someone to love again.

While I'm telling about my parents, I might as well introduce myself. My name is Ashton Irwin and I'm 19 years old. I'm openly gay. I was never afraid to tell my dad because I knew he loved me and was never going to kick me out.

I'm an only child and I'm currently single. There is this guy, not that I'm saying I like him because he is not my type, he is rude and I just don't like anything about him.

His name is Shawn and he has this idea that I am going to marry him. For two years he has been telling me this and that I should be flattered that he is asking me to marry him, but I'm not.

Anyways, I entered the library and greeted the librarian.

"Do you have any new books?" I asked him.

"No, we haven't gotten any new books since last week." He told me.

"Alright, I'll just read In Disguise again." I said smiling a little.

"But you've read that book 3 times this week." He said.

"I know but it's my favorite book." I said.

"Is that so?" He asked and I hummed in response.

"It's about how a princess who slept for days and a prince had to go save her. And he has to defeat this dragon villain to be able to get to the princess." I smiled just remembering everything about the book.

"You know what, since it's your favorite I'll let you keep the book." The librarian told me smiling.

"I can't take this." I told him.

"But I insist, keep it." He said.

"I- thank you so much." I smiled excitedly.

"Anytime." The librarian said. I smiled one more time, grabbed the book and headed outside.

I began reading it while walking home. I was so into the book that I didn't hear anyone call my name until they got closer.

"Ashton my love." I heard Shawn's voice. I rolled my eyes and tried to ignore him. But it didn't work since he came running to my side and grabbed the book from my hands.

"Hey!" I shouted at him trying to reach for my book but he held it up high enough so that I can not reach it.

I rolled my eyes at him. He knows I don't like him so I don't know why he keeps trying.

"What is it now Shawn?" I sarcastically said.

"You shouldn't talk to your future husband like that." He smirked.

I scoffed and he glared. I snatched the book back and continued to walk.

"There's no way I'm marrying you." I told him.

"Oh come on Ash, why won't you? We're made for each other." He pouted.

"Is that so." I scoffed.

"Sorry but I'm not into dickheads like you." I said.

He glared and stopped walking, I just continued to walk not wanting to waste any more time.

"One day you'll be mine!" He screamed.

I rolled my eyes and didn't pay attention to him. I opened my book and continued to read while heading home. I wonder if I'll ever find my Prince Charming, I hope it's soon, I don't want to have to keep seeing Shawn and him talking about us being together forever.
