Every day you and your friends would pass the same old abandoned mansion on your way to school. It was a long weekend when your friends called you up to come meet them outside the gates to the mansion, apparently they decided they wanted to explore the place and wanted you to join them, with great reluctance you agreed as you knew they wouldn't leave you alone otherwise."Come on [y/n]" You run to catch up with your friends who had left you behind at the gates well you had been hesitating. You approach the front door as one of your friends turns the door handle causing the door to open unhindered, all 3 of you stare in wonder at the lack of a lock but quickly shake it off as you head inside, closing the door behind you. Once inside you begin to look around from your places by the front door, you can see the front hall branches off into 2 other rooms on either side of a staircase that splits off in two direction half way up leaving a landing of sorts. In the two rooms you can see furniture covered in white sheets and a layer of dust. "Lets split up and look around, I'll take the right room" with those words said your 2 friends took the rooms on the main floor leaving the upper floors for you to explore. You moved towards the staircase and slowly started to climb them, doubting the strength of the steps and if they would hold you weight. You reached the little landing without any problems where you came to the realization that not only did the steps hold you weight, they also didn't creak or groan. You looked around deciding which side to take first when you notice the large french doors with frosted glass windows, you gentle pushed open the door deciding to check the room out before moving onto the upper floors. Once the door was open enough for you to slip through, you poked you head in first before moving in completely. The room was fairly large, it looked like it could be used as a ballroom or even a large music room as there was a little stage on the other end and a piano tucked against the connecting wall between the stage and where you stood. After taking another step into the room something crunched under your shoe, when you looked it seemed to be a piece of glass or crystal, further inspection of the room proved to show a crystal chandelier had fallen from its fixture. The moonlight spilled in through the large windows that made up the wall across from the piano, helping you to pick your way through the room. The sense of someone watching you slowly creeped up your spine as you reached a door that was tucked next to the little stage, partially hidden by the drapes that acted like curtains for the stage. You reached out to open it but stopped when a growl sounded from behind you, causing your imagination to run wild with thoughts of what it could be, slowly you turned around to see who or what was making that sound. At first you couldn't see anything till you spotted a pair of red eyes looking at you from the shadows that formed in the corner of the room where the moonlight couldn't reach, once you took notice of them a large black wolf started to form as it stepped out of the shadows and into the moonlight, its lips pulled back in a snarl revealing its long sharp teeth as it continued to growl. Panic gripped your heart as fear clawed at your mind, slowly you started to move along the wall away from the stage and towards the windows, you eyes not leaving the large wolf's form which allowed you to see it get ready to lunge at you but before you could a voice rang out in the room "Shadow! That is enough!" A tall slender lady in a strapless corset style dress seemed to materialize out of no where leaving you stunned as the large fierce wolf turned into a oversized cuddly puppy at the woman's feet "You know we do not harm Innocents." The wolf who was level with her sitting whined and he laid down, seeming to beg forgiveness. A small smile softened her features as she looked down slightly at the wolf "Go back to bed Shadow" The wolf vanished right from its spot on the floor, as the lady turned her icy blue eyes on you. "I do hope he didn't heard you, he does mean well." A frown pulled at her lips as her eyes seemed to search for any sign of injury, the fear still gripped you leaving you speechless until strangled words slipped past your lips "but he......you......what?" Your mind raced as you tried to make sense of everything.
"Oh dear, I think it's time for you and your friends left before anything else happens." The woman moved and before you knew it was right in front of you, her hand rested softly on your head. A moment later she drew her hand away and you started to feel extremely tired, as you slipped into unconscious the last thing you heard was the woman's sweet voice "I'm sorry [y/n]"~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The next morning you woke to your phone ringing, it was your friends calling you, most likely to make plans for the day "hey [y/n], you'll never believe this but I had this weird dream last night, we had all gone into that old mansion and well exploring this large black wolf appeared and growled at us....but here's the real strange part that was it, the dream ended there." You froze as your eyes landed on a white and black rose the laid on top of a card, you ended the call without taking your eyes off the rose and card before you reached out to grab it "who?....." you turned the card over to see elegant cursive writing
'My apologizes in regards to Shadow's actions, he can be rather protective of me and especially doesn't like when people come into our home uninvited. I wish you well and would strongly advise not exploring the mansion again.' At the bottom of the card in looping smooth lines a name was signed.
~BlackroseI do hope you enjoyed that, I did do some other changes to it, mostly expanded it a little and cleaned up a few different scenes. Please vote and comment, I love hearing from the readers. I'm hoping through this I'll find my muse for this again and be able to write more of her interactions, so look forward to more little tales about Blackrose and her wolf companion Shadow, till next time take care when exploring supposedly abandoned places.
