You were walking home one night from work, it was getting late and you were tired and wanted to get home, as fast as you can, so you decided you'd take a short cut through the old cemetery. A low fog had set in, in the late hours of the night giving the cemetery a creepy, haunted look. You gave it no thought as you continued on, letting the full moon light your path. While walking on the main path, you started to feel like someone was watching you, you looked around trying to find the source of the feeling but saw nothing so you started to walk a little faster. Suddenly a shadow darted across the path a little further ahead. A small whimper escaped as you suppressed a scream. You shook your head thinking it was a trick of light or your tired mind was creating things that weren't there. Feeling a little better, you continued on your way at a faster pace so you could get home and finally get some much needed rest.

You could see the exit a few yards away when suddenly shadow things started to peel themselves from the darkness. You started to run towards the exit wanting to get away from the black things, hoping that this was all just a bad nightmare and that you'll wake up once you reached the exit. Black claws reached for you as you dodged them, one was able to get by and grab your leg causing you to trip and fall. You kicked at the claw, trying to dislodge it from your leg so you could get away. The tears were streaming down your cheeks by now. Finally the thing released you and you started to get back up to run again when you were slammed into the ground again by something heavy landing on your back. You tried to turn around to get it off or at least see what was on your back, but whatever it was it would hardly let you move. A laugh rang out in the cemetery followed by a mocking female voice.

"Oh now you've done it, didn't they teach you that the second you harm an innocent that I have free rein to kill you," a pair of black shoes with the end of a black dress or skirt (you couldn't tell) came into your line of vision. Above you a weird mixture of a growl and gurgle answered to the woman's presence, just as quickly as the woman's feet came into your view, they were gone. Not but 5 seconds later, the weight was off your back. You took the chance and scrambled to the nearest gravestone where you ducked behind to peek out and see what was going on. You watched as the woman fought against the weird shadow things, surprised she could move so easily in her long black strapless dress, her simple sword flashed silver in the moons light as it slashed through the shadows leaving nothing but a inky substance on her blade. When the final shadow vanished she turned to where you were hiding, you were surprised to see she had icy blue eyes that you saw were alight with untold secrets and power.

"I'm sorry, my dear, are you hurt?" She asked as she offered her hand to help you up. You shook your head as you took the woman's offered hand and stood up.

"Again I'm sorry about that, normally they're really good about following the rules and not harming the innocent." Her crimson lips frowned as she noticed something. "It appears you've got a small cut on your forehead. Here, let me at least clean away the blood," she reached up with her other hand and gently rubbed a spot just above your right eye. When she drew her hand away you started to feel drowsy.

"Sleep tight," was the last thing you heard as you fell asleep.

You woke with a start to the sound of birds chirping and the sun shining through your window. You sat there trying to figure out how you got there and wondering if that had been a part of reality or if it was a nightmare. You shook your head brushing it off as a vivid nightmare, as you stood up to get ready for the day you saw a single white and black rose lying on your desk with a crescent moon pinning a note to it. A memory surfaced of the woman from last night, she had had a crescent moon pin in her black hair. You picked up the note and read it a few times as you slowly realized that it had not been a nightmare at all...

"There are monster's that lurk in the shadows that would take great delight in an innocent like yourself. If ever, you are alone at night, keep this pin with you and it will, with luck, ward off any monsters and if in the event trouble does befall you, it will protect you until I can come to your side."
