Hermione always had plans A through F prepared, thought through, and ready for every situation. She had everything prepared, a small gift package on the table, waiting to be opened, but she could not think of one plan should Harry react badly.
"Hey, love! I'm home!" Harry called from the door.
"In the kitchen!" Hermione called back rather weakly. She was mentally cursing herself for sounding so weak as her husband of five months strode in, immediately walking over to her to give her a kiss.
"What's this?" He asked, gesturing to the box on the table.
"A present for you. You can open it now if you'd like." She phrased it like she was giving him a choice, but she didn't think she could wait very long if he decided to wait. Fortunately, she watched as Harry reached to the box, and began unwrapping it. She held her breath as he reached for the contents.
"I don't think this will fit me, Hermione. It's a little small." Harry was looking at the onesie covered in orange octopuses. "It's child-sized." Harry's eyes widened in realization. Looking at her, Hermione could see a swirl of emotions set in his eyes.
"Hermione, are you-" he reached over to place his hand on her stomach. "This isn't for me, is it?"
Unable to form words, Hermione nodded cautiously.
Slowly, the sides of Harry's lips twitched up, forming a giant grin that lit up his eyes. Hermione's feet suddenly left the ground, and she was spinning in the air. Harry put her back on the ground and peppered kisses on her face.
"I love you so much!" he exclaimed, punctuating each word with a kiss.
"You're amazing! You're going to be a mum! We're going to be parents! I'm going to be a dad! Merlin's beard, Hermione! We are going to have a kid!" Harry grinned. And Hermione could do nothing but grin back her husband because she knew that regardless of if she was going to have a boy or girl, he would be an amazing father to whoever ended up wearing the Orange Octopus Onesie. Better yet, they wouldn't do it alone, they'd do it how they did everything: together.
Fin.
