Rosie could smell the excitement in the air, that night. It was half past eleven, and Ben Alexander's house was swarming with people all dressed to the nines.
There was loud music, exciting games and other such activities throughout his mansion like house.
Rosie wove her way through the throngs of people holding red cups of alcohol, until she found Anika. Anika was busy dancing with her boyfriend Isaac, and she was completely oblivious to the fact that Rosie wanted to speak to her. Rosie wouldn't blame her though. Anika and Isaac - they were very much in love with each other. It was a strong bond between the two of them, one that might seem fragile from the outside, but which was very much resilient on the inside. Though it seemed to have been built upon social ladders, to a very few people it was clear that Anika and Isaac - they were meant to be.
Rosie then went in search of Delilah, and soon found her in the kitchen, along with a few other girls. "Hey Deli, has my clasp come undone?" Rosie whispered, pointing to the back of her dress. Delilah turned Rosie around until she had her back to Delilah.
"Yeah yeah... Put your hair in the front, Rosie. Let me clasp it up for you."
It was while Rosie was in the process of sweeping all her blonde hair to one side, that she saw him in her line of sight.
He was dressed in a black button down shirt and dark blue jeans. And unlike the other times when Rosie brought him to parties, he was wearing a genuine smile. He didn't see her looking at him, and instead he took a seat on one of the couches before he whipped his phone out.
It appeared as though he was texting someone, and the smile never faded from his face. And it hurt Rosie, because she was no longer the cause for his smile. but he was smiling, and somehow, that was enough.
"Rosie!"
She turned around to Delilah with a started expression.
"Geez, this is the third time I'm calling you. Your clasp is fixed up properly!"
"Thank you, Deli," she said, and wandered off.

"One minute to the countdown, hoes! Y'all better be pairing up with your partners, 'cause we gotta go all smoochy-smooch at the tock!"
The same drunk woman who was ever-present at the parties held at Ben Alexander's house had taken her rightful position atop the coffee table. Said table, was creaking under her enormous weight, and was in the danger of crashing down.
The crowd immediately swarmed over to where she stood, and nearly all of the people were with their significant others. Rosie smiled at the few people she bumped into while getting to the coffee table.
"Hey."
Rosie turned around to fine Delilah, with a bright smile.
"We don't have to have lovers, when we've got best friends, do we?" She asked, as she slipped her hand into Rosie's. Rosie smiled at her before squeezing her hand.
"Where's Anika?"
Delilah signaled with her eyebrows to a little further into the crowd.
Anika's arms were wrapped around Isaac's neck, and her eyes were glinting as he whispered something into her ears.
"Ten!" The crowd started cheering as the woman began the countdown.
"Delilah - "
"Nine!"
"Where's Callum?" Rosie asked, above the crowd's loud voices.
"Eight!"
"Umm..." Delilah looked around.
"Seven!"
Rosie spotted him on the sofa, his phone pressed to his cheek.
"Six!"
He was talking to someone.
"Five!"
His cheeks were red, and his eyes were crinkled with happiness.
