I rolled out of the bed astonished and furious.
Looking down at my clothes, they had changed me out of the heavy velvet dress into a simple baby blue nightgown, at first I felt exposed at the thought the brothers had seen me naked and then I realised it was probably just a maid who had changed my clothes.
I got up from the carpeted floor and stomped out of the lavish lavender room in which I had spent the night, the corridor into which I had furiously marched into was long and curved inwards at each end. The walls painted teal and the carpeted floor marble.
I stormed down the hall in an attempt to find someone, anyone, but I ended up unnecessarily ragging through this corridor in circles and it took me about 3 rounds around the circular corridor to finally figure out I was walking in loops, I finished my loop and stormed back into my room.
As I opened the door to my room I heard a light moan. Was someone hiding in my room? I scanned the area and saw a massive moving lump in the bed, another muffled moan escaped from under the sheets. My eyes widened and I rushed out of my room, accidentally letting the door slam shut. Horrified I ran down the corridor.
Why were people 'sleeping together' in my room?! How outrageous!
Then it occurred to me, it wasn't my room to begin with. Colour rushed to my cheeks, I stopped running and leaned against the wall, banging my head against it. How stupid of me, I was just a constant mess of embarrassment, could I not do anything right? Oh for goodness sake.
Back from the room where I had heard the noises, I heard another one, a woman, 'don't worry darling I'll go find whoever it was, just stay there' and accelerating footsteps progressed towards my direction.
I panicked and opened the closest door, jumped inside and shut it behind me. My back to the door, I let out a revealed sigh. I pressed my ear to the door, her footsteps where still approaching.'Excuse me', a voice behind me said. I jumped and nearly had a heartache. Turning around, I saw an adorable little boy gazing up at me with scared big blue eyes.
I kneeled down to his eye level and whispered, 'I'm being chased by a very angry monster and I needed to hide, can you do me a favour and let me stay? Please.'
He blinked, 'a monster? Like a dragon?' His face grew a big smile, 'is it a dragon, is it, is it?!' He was excited now, I couldn't help but smile too, it was contagious.
'Mhm, she's like a dragon but you can't see it, she hides it behind a human costume. No one knows she's actually a dragon.'
He titled his head in wonder, that very moment the door clicked and swung open, I lurched backwards and was thankfully hidden behind the door.
The woman from earlier addressed the little boy in such a sharp and crude voice, it made my imaginary interpretation of her all the more realistic, 'Cedric!' She hissed, 'has anyone come into this room, did you see or hear anyone in the corridor?!'
The little boy glanced at me, at the floor and back up at the woman. A silence followed. He then shook his head, she let out an annoyed groan and shut the door, moving onto the next room.
I turned to Cedric and was about to thank him when he squealed and burst out laughing, 'she is a dragon! She is, she is, hahahahahaha, she really is!'
This little boy was the epitome of cuteness. Confused but now in a great mood, I asked playfully, 'Mhm, she is. How did you know?'
