Dinner with my Brothers Boss

Unlocking the front door to my house, I dropped my backpack on the ground and laid down on the couch enjoying the quiet. I heard Colts approaching footsteps and a chuckle before the closet door shut. I must have dozed off because a few moments later someone knocked on the door and I remembered today was the day of the agent meeting. I got up quickly and answered the door.

I blinked a few times not recognizing the women standing in front of me "Oh hello,"

"Hello. I can see the confusion but I am filling in for your normal agent today she has food poisoning and took the day off." She explained noticing my confused look.

"Oh, well come on in," I said as I stepped to the side and held the door open for her.

Colt and I showed her around the house trying not to let our nerves show. When we finished we walked to the entrance while she finished the last of her notes.

"I am please to tell you both that you can continue living here." She said clicking her pen giving a bright smile to both of us.

We both looked at her like she had two heads but before either of us could ask why, she turned on her heel and showed herself out. When the door shut I jumped into Colts arms and he spun us around, our celebration was cut short by Brendan and Ross coming in with grocery bags in their arms.

"Sorry we're late. We had to make a small stop at the grocery store, our boss and his family are coming over for dinner tonight." Ross said walking passed us into the kitchen Brendan on his tail.

"I have a shift at Mikey's tonight. I won't be able to make it." I said following behind both of them shaking my head.

"Well, what time does it end?" Brendan asked as he sat his bags down.

"Eight but it takes me thirty minutes to get back home from there and that's by car." I said leaning against the counter.

"Well you better be here by eight thirty or you better call in and say you can't make it today." Ross said while he was putting stuff away. 

Letting out a puff of breath, I made my way to my room to get ready for work.

*Time Skip*

When I walked through the front door I froze when I heard laughing from the dining room.

I looked at the wall clock and banged my head against the wall, 8:40 I was ten minutes late. 

"Phoenix is that you?" Brendan asked from the kitchen

I let out a small groan and walked into the kitchen ignoring my throbbing forehead.

"Your late," Ross said setting his napkin down, "We told you to be back here by 8:30."

"I know, I know, I tried to call but no one answered and my truck wouldn't start again so I had to borrow a car from the shop." I explained.

Ross nodded but he still looked mad, "Go get changed into something that doesn't make you look like you live on the streets."

I bit the inside of my cheek for snapping back at him and did what he said. I ran up to my room and took a quick shower making sure I got all of the oil off from work before getting out. I walked into my closet and threw a outfit on before I did my make up and hair.

I walked downstairs into the kitchen and I saw Ryder bite his lip which I pretended not to notice and sat down by Colt. That's when I realized that the women sitting there was the agent from earlier

"Weren't you here earlier?" I asked.

"Yeah I am the wife of your brothers boss" She said with a big smile on her face.

While I sat down next to Colt Brendan introduced me to everyone, "This is Mr. Wolfe, Mrs. Wolfe and their son Ryder."

I glared at Ryder who was sitting their with a smirk on his face, "We've met."

"Oh good then we don't have to go through introduction," Mrs. Wolfe said with a huge smile on her face.

Ross came in from the kitchen with a plate full of food for me, he set it down in front of me before going to sit back down in his spot. I scooped some green beans onto my fork and put it into my mouth not really listening to the conversation. I didn't realize when I was brought into the conversation until Colt jabbed my ribs with his elbow and when I saw everybody looking at me I felt my face heat up. 

"I am sorry Alph... sir she has a tendency to check out and not listen to much things." Brendan said shaking his head in disappointment.

"Why should I listen if the conversation isn't something that involves me?" I asked pushing a stray pea around my plate ignoring the fact that he was gonna call his boss Alpha.

"Phoenix were not going over this again." Brendan said not leaving any room for arguing. 

The rest of the night was all of us having small talk and Ryder's parents asking about school and what we wanted to do. When they left though that's when it went down hill and Brendan let me have it.

"Why do you always have to embarrass me?" He asked running his hand down his face.

"Whats the big deal I didn't do anything?" I said rolling my eyes, "You dont have to be such a drama queen."

That took a hard turn because next thing I knew Brendan was hitting me. Ross and Colt had to rip him off of me and when Ross had him contained Colt ran over and crouched next to me.

"Are you ok?" He said panicking and looking at my face.

"Yeah Colt it's fine. I just want to go to bed, we have school in the morning." I said shrugging him off and going to my room.
