THUMP.
Pineapple and Copper stared at each other for a short moment before madly scrambling towards the cave entrance. Pineapple made it to the apple tree first, and Copper found herself nearly bowled over as he took a sudden step backwards, nearly pushing them both back into the cave.
"What is it?" Copper asked, regaining her footing and stepping up next to Pineapple. The words had barely left her mouth before she saw.
Somebody new had come to Apple Rock.
A girl with dark, curly hair and pale blue eyes stared up at them with a mixture of fear and confusion. She wore some sort of white blouse, jeans, and a messenger bag.
"Hi," Pineapple said, uncharacteristically gently. "Welcome. What's your name?"
She just looked at them.
"Uh..." Copper said uncertainly. "Are you OK? Do you speak English? Are you here to stay? What's in your bag?"
"Aurora," the girl said in a soft voice. "My name is Aurora."
Pineapple stared at her with starry eyes. Copper folded her arms and rolled her eyes. "Alright, let's head inside," she said.
