John sat back on the bench and put his elbow along the back. Paul pulled his leg across and over his thigh and waited for John to say something. Pauls eyes wandered around the grass and he put his hand on the side of his neck, feeling the chills that were running up his skin. He began toying with the edge of his pants in anticipation of words, any words at all but neither of them were speaking.

"Must be a relief for you, huh?" John finally said something.

"What are you saying?"

"Well, whatever we had going is ending, isn't it?" John could easily fall back into the action of lighting a cigarette or toying the skin on his thumbs but he just sat there. Pauls face stayed still and thoughtful

"I don't really know what to say" Paul was just about to agree with John but he felt the words fall a little flat before they even left his mouth.

"Wouldn't think you did." John turned his body to face Paul. "You're not very experienced"

Paul could've scoffed at that or rolled his eyes but he just sighed. "Neither are you"

John smirked and crossed his arms.

"At least at relationships, all you've had is sex" Paul shot back.

"That's not a bad thing" John laughed and sat back on the bench. And they were silent again, Paul wanted to be anything but silent. But no words came to mind so it was just plain agonizing again.

"I guess I should go than" Paul started to stand but John reached out to grab his arm. The chills that already dotted his arm made him shiver even more. "What now, John?"

"Paul, I- I don't want you to go"

That was the first time Johns eyes ever looked desperate.

"So I'm just suppose to stay here?"

"You're not suppose to do anything Paul. I want you to stay here but I can't make ya" John let go of Paul's hand.

Paul stretched his fingers out and wiggled them a little. He had two options, leave or stay. Though there were only two options, Paul found himself aching for a third one. But the longer he thought it over, the longer he was just standing there. He took a seat.

"I have to stop letting ya get to my head" Paul shook his head and put his clasped hands in his lap. But John unclasped them, took his right hand and pushed a cig between them.

"Aye, there's no fun and stopping me. I've rented a room for quite the stay" John puffed the smoke that was still between Paul's fingers and tapped his finger against Paul's head.

Paul tilted his head to the side and away from John's finger. He pulled back the cig but didn't puff it for himself. "What's the point of this, John?"

"I like being around you." John took Paul's hand back and put it up to his mouth to take a drag of the cig.

"I like being around ya too John but that doesn't change anything you said"

John let go of Paul's hand and turned his whole body over to face Paul. "Paul, I'm no good at this. I've never been in a relationship as you so sweetly pointed out" John waved his hand around.

"I can't be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth" John ended with a teasing shrug.

Paul sighed and leaned back onto the bench. "You've not only embarrassed me but you've gone and embarrassed George for feelings he doesn't even have anymore, John"
