The building was huge, and it was really more of a castle than a simple building. It was tall, with gothic-style architecture and huge windows. It looked magnificent and intimidating all at once, and the children couldn't help but stare in awe. The castle was surrounded by beautiful plants and gardens, and the grounds stretched out over a vast stretch of land.
From where they all stood in a clumped group, Camden could see an archery field, a large lake, some closed-off gardens and greenhouses, a large forest to the right side of the castle, and large stables. Landyn stepped closer to him and leaned over to whisper.
"I think this is where the magic is taught," he reasoned. Camden nodded, not saying anything. The representatives stepped out in a line in front of the children. A man with long, greasy black hair and steely grey eyes spoke first.
"I am Jarvis," he said. "Those who are returning this year will please follow me to the dining hall before the rest of the students. You all should know where to sit all ready. Come now."
A group of about fifty people followed Jarvis swiftly toward the large, grand front doors of the castle. Rome spoke next, addressing the rest of the children.
"Those who are thirteen or older, please follow me," she said shortly, before turning on her heel. Camden, Landyn, Alysson, and Kendall followed her, as well as about a hundred other kids.
Naturally, they didn't catch the rest of the representatives talking. Instead, they directed their attention to the woman leading them. Rome had long legs, and therefore a long stride, so the shorter children were practically jogging to keep up and listen as she talked.
"Alright," Rome began, finally slowing her pace a bit and letting the kids catch their breath. "Once we get inside, we'll wait in the entrance hall until Jarvis comes to get us. That's where I'll have to leave you all. A short description of each identity will be given before you're told where to sit. You'll sit with others of the same identity. Now, your identity is yours to choose. Pansexual, bisexual, and polysexual people all go together. All nonbinary identities go together. Transgender FtM and MtF people go together. Homosexual people go together. All identities under the asexual spectrum go together. You may fall under more than one of the identities given. Your job is to choose which identity fits you most and is most important to you. Good luck, my children. My office is on the fourth floor, in the right wing. That's right next to the transgender dorm. I hope to see you all again soon. I teach Biology. Good bye, everyone. Jarvis will be here in just a few moments."
As if on cue, the doors opened and Jarvis stepped out, welcoming them in. Rome left them in his capable hands and they all shuffled into the dining hall. Once inside, the doors closed on their own and they were left to stare in wonder around the place. The tables already had a few people sitting at them.
Despite the gothic architecture on the outside, the inside was huge. It wasn't cramped at all and the tables were long and broad, set with tons of plates, but no food yet. Jarvis stepped up to a mahogany podium and cleared his throat. When he spoke, his voice seemed to be magically amplified across the large room.
"Children, I am proud to welcome you to Quirks United, a school for those who have difference in their hearts and souls," he began. "In mere moments, you will be made to sit with your defining label. For example, mine is bisexuality. That means I am capable of attraction to both men and women. We have everything separated into just a few main umbrellas, but should you feel uncomfortable with the groups, accommodations may be made.
"Now then, let the explanations begin. If you are pansexual, you can be attracted to anyone regardless of gender. Polysexual people can be attracted to most genders, but not necessarily all. If you feel you are bisexual, pansexual, or polysexual, please join the table to the right."
