Chapter One: Starting over

Isak's POV

I grabbed the last box from the car, and made my way into the house. I dropped the box in the living room with all the others boxes and made my way to the kitchen, where I could hear my mom banging dishes around. I swung the fridge door open to see if they was anything to eat. My mom looked at me in stress and suggested we order pizza. Then she whispered in my ear, "I hope this town has a pizza place."

She handed me a twenty dollar bill, "you should go and explore this town, maybe you'll find us a pizza place." I took the money and walked out. It was a little chilly considering it was a summer day. I grabbed my hoodie, and made my way out the door. I was walking on what was considered the path even though it was just dirt and pebbles. I turn onto a street that looked like the main street in the town. I looked around and the only place that seemed open was a small pet shop on the corner.I walked in and surprisingly it was busy.

Honestly, I wasn't sure why I was in there so I just started looking at puppies. I mean they're adorable creatures. This girl about my age came walking in my direction, she was wearing a red apron and a nametag that read Noora. I looked in the reflection of the fish tank to make sure my hair looked delicious.

"Hi, are you wondering about getting a fish today?" She said with a smile.

"No, I was just wondering if there's a pizza place in this ghost town, I'm new in town." I said smiling back.

"Actually there is but, truth be told it's not good pizza, but it's pizza. It's next by the sheriff station"

"Okay where do I find the sheriff's station?"i casually asked.

"Walk outside," she started to giggle, " take a left and in about two blocks you'll be there."

"Perfect, anything else I should know?" I asked

"If you want, I get out of work tomorrow at noon, we can go for lunch and I can show you around!" she said with eagerness, "we can meet here."

"See you at noon, and by the way I'm Isak"

"Cool I'm Noora"

"Yeah I kind of figured" I chuckled
and pointed at her name tag.

I walked out and a huge smile started to spread on my face.

I followed her directions and arrived at the pizza place. I ordered a medium to go and I took out my phone to see if I had any notifications, but just saw texts from my mom.

Mom: where are you!?
Mom: answer me!!!
Mom: are you okay? Call me once you get these messages
Me: what, what's wrong?

Mom: can you just please hurry home, I'll tell you later

I turned my phone off and picked up the pizza and headed home. I walked

*next day*

I walked down the stairs to find my mom watching the news.

"Be careful, there's something going on in the city." My mom seemed a bit shook.

I didn't pay much attention, why would something happen in a town like this?
I grabbed my hoodie, and slipped on my shoes. While I was walking towards the pet shop, I got an amber alert.

I walked along the same dirt path, until I reached the corner the pet store is on. I checked my hair once again in the reflection of the pet store glass, I saw Noora helping out this little boy get a fish from the fish tank. I walked through the door to be greeted with the smell of wet dog.
