=One Month Later=
Three classes later, it's finally lunch time. I grab my lunch bag and run to the cafeteria like everyone else. I chose a table and wait. Five minutes later, no Eddie. Ten minutes later, no Eddie. Twenty minutes later, I give up hope. I guess it's expected for new kids. He probably made plans with five other people before me. As soon as I grab my lunch, he walks in, and sits down next to me.
"Why are you so late, " I asked out of curiosity. "Nurses office. I gotta show you something, c'mon." I reluctantly followed him as we stopped near the front of the building. "Are you crazy," I asked. "You're gonna get us in trouble."
"I'm sick," he explained, "and you're helping me get my work done." No wonder he was so pale earlier. We left to his sleek black car as he put the keys in the ignition and drove. "You're not really sick, are you."
"Nope" hee grinned, starting at me through the mirror. His eyes never failed to put me in a trance. I shrank down as he grinned and led me to his house.
"I'm good" he admitted. "This stuff is easier than I thought. you try and get some rest; you look like you need it."
"I'm fine" I tried, swallowing a hard yawn. "Sleeep" he whispered, in that soothing voice he uses. "Rest. Relax. Sleeep." I wanted to tell him that his trucks wouldn't work on me, but it was so hard to resist giving in to his voice. I forced my eyes open, but I wasn't strong enough, and gave in to whatever he said. I shut my eyes, and heard his voice as though it were in my head. "Sleep. Sleep." And so, I slept.
==============================
My eyes peeled open and my first thought was to find Eddie. He was lying on the other couch, sprawled across it. "I know your not asleep and I know you did that so just fess up and tell me how." He turned to face me and put his back on the arm rest and his feet on the other. "If you're expecting me to tell you I'm a vampire or something, your mistaken."
Hearing this, I sat up. "Than just tell me what you did."
"I used my Voice. That's all." He winked, confusing me more. "I don't follow." He sighed. "I'm gonna tell you something. You probably won't believe me at first, but I think it'll explain a lot." I said nothing add he continued. "I'm not a vampire, I told you this. I'm what you'd call a Commander."
"My powers are simple: if I use my Voice on you, you're basically mine to control. You feel what I want you to, do whatever I say, the only thing I can't control is your thoughts. Not that I'd want to, anyway." I started at him, partly in rage. "Is this some kind of joke? you don't actually expect me to believe you, do you. I'm out of here." I picked up my lunch, put my shoes on, and walked to the door. "Stay."
"Wooo. I so believe you." I reached for the door, but couldn't touch it. It felt like there was some kind of shield protecting it. Even when I touched it, I couldn't get my fingers to wrap around it. I felt hopeless after a while and gave up. When I sat down, I felt some kind of relief, like a weight had been lifted. turned around to see Eddie with his arms crossed, looking away with a devious smirk. "What did you do to me."
"I already explained this a second ago. If I had any control of your thoughts, I'd just force you to remember, but noo, apparently I can't do that." A wave of fear hit me, and I was sure it wasn't his work. "Wh-what do you want from me," I stumbled as I tried not to cry."Calm. Let your mind relax." He said the words, but nothing happened. I didn't feel as scared, but my mind was racing to interpret all this, and to figure out what he could possibly want from me. Besides what he could do, the only thing I knew was that he could not be trusted.
As soon as he left to another room, I tried the door again. He didn't see me, thankfully, so I slipped out easily. I didn't care, I ran as far as I could. there had to be some kind of range, at least some disadvantage. After two miles, I sat down to rest. "You're running out of energy. you can't make it home."
"I'm running out of energy, I can't run all the way home." I was restless and desperate. I was crazy to think I could run all the way home. "You need to turn back."
"I need to turn back."
My eyes widened and I started panting. I wanted to scream, but I couldn't. I sat down, wrapped my arms around my knees, and cried. He tried to control me again. As if he didn't do enough damage. I didn't know what to do, I certainly couldn't tell the police that a friend from school was mind-controlling me. I was restless and desperate. And I needed to turn back.
