Months went by and I still couldn't get Aria to speak to me, I was still eating with my friends from Math and occasionally Tia. One of the girls and I from the group called Navaeyah started to become close but no one seemed to be able to take my mind from Aria, but I really started to like Navaeyah, so on Friday at lunch I asked her if she would like to come with me to the Coffee Bean after school with high hopes none of her exes enjoyed coffee too.
My time with Navaeyah went great and now I was really starting to like her, finally my mind was drifting away from Aria. I was considering asking Navaeyah to be with me but summer was soon approaching and i wasn't sure if that would work so I decided to wait until school was back so we would be able to spend time together. The others from Aria's group would occasionally speak to me when Aria was in the bathroom or home sick, it was almost as if they were afraid to cross her by talking to me. It was suspicious but didn't bother me, I was busy counting down the final days of school so I could start counting down the days of summer. I realized there was a slight chance Navaeyah would lose interest in me within those 10 weeks and so I devised a plan. If I could put a few perfectly placed dates in order I would be able to see Navaeyah every other week during the summer. I spent all night thinking of date ideas and which days to have them, soon it was 5 in the morning and I had no choice but to go to bed, but that didn't seem too bad considering I might have seen Navaeyah in my dreams.
School was out and we were on our seventh week of summer. It was July 8th, my birthday, I was having a party later with some friends and hopefully Aria and the others but first I wanted to spend time separately with Navaeyah so I could finally ask her to be my girlfriend after a long awaited 10 months. We were having lunch at Pizza Hut, I was getting ready to leave when my phone buzzed. I picked it up expecting to see a message from Navaeyah but instead I saw it from an unknown number it said "hey Jerome, it's Jaheim. Aria, Malachai, Kenzington and I will be attending your party tonight at 8." Obviously Jaheim wasn't very smart because as I scrolled up I saw all the threats from when I was with Aria. I couldn't believe Jaheim was the anonymous jerk this whole time, I replied with a simple "great, can't wait to see you" so I could finally show Aria her best friend disapproved of us from the start. I pushed it to the back of my head and finished getting ready for our date. After we ate our pizza we got dessert and that's when I asked her, she said yes, no surprise and my 14th birthday was proving to be the best so far.
