I slammed my locker shut walking down the hall alone when I passed my new neighbor "Whoa you look a little old to be a student" I chuckled. "I'm you're new English teacher junior right?" He asked. My eyes widened quickly. "Ohh" I said slowly backing up. "My brother jay is in your grade though" he smiled. "Oh my god" I cringed. He just chuckled patting my arm. He saw me practically naked!! I had to tell the girls like right now! I saw Sarah first and immediately jumped on her back. "My new neighbor is our English teacher!" I snapped. "I know I have him first period" she laughed knocking me off her. "This isn't funny don't laugh!" I gasped. We were caught spying on them saturday! "Hey party at the black lagoon this Friday be there" Hailey smiled at us. She's the captain of the cheerleading squad.  Every guy in the entire school has been with her I'm pretty sure. I just nodded pushing Sarah to our algebra 2 class.

"Welcome class I'm Mr lunason. I'll be your English teacher this year" the man smiled. Bailey and I sat in the middle row just drooling over him. I mean he's so fine. His light blue dress shirt hugged his chest leaving little to the imagination. This was my last class of the day and I think I was going to enjoy it. That's forsure. "If you will open your books to page 23 we will be reading the first act of Julius Caesar this week" he smiled at me. I cringed looking away. I can't even look at him. Not after what Sarah did and me standing half naked on the porch if front of him and Jay. Speaking of he came in making everyone look at him before sitting down next to me in the empty desk. They just stared at eachother before Mr lunason nodded. It was as if they were having an unspoken conversation. "Hey there I'm pretty sure the bell rang 5 minutes ago" bailey said. I wrote late on a post-it note and stuck it to his chest. "There you go buddy I got one too" I smiled pointing to my detention slip that I would have to take home to get Kelsey to sign. "It's the second week of school and Nikki Ryland already has detention. What a shocker" Bryan miller laughed. "Says the goodie-to-shoes who rather brown nose everyone" I said propping my feet up on his desk in front of me. "I do not!" He snapped. "Yes you do" the entire class said in unison. "Its okay Bryan own it I do" bailey smirked. "Okay okay okay that's enough" Mr lunason chuckled. "No no no let's be real here Julius Caesar has nothing on Nikki Ryland. Let me just give you all something to think about!" Bryan said getting out of his chair. "Sit down if you make me mad I will literally bounce a volleyball off your face everytime I see you" I laughed but I wasn't kidding "Nikki ryland, the schools sob story, she acts out because she is so damaged. Her parents died-" "That's enough!" Mr lunason snapped. "No no, then her grandmother died and her sister had to give up everything to raise her at the age of 18-" " first off my sister didn't give up everything she went to college and is currently in med school I think she's done quite well for herself has she not?" I asked. I'm not going to let some guy make me upset. "Man sit down you're making an ass out of yourself" Jay told him. "Go to the office I'm done listening to you" Mr lunason told him opening the door. "I'll be looking forward to the vollyball" Bryan sighed grabbing his things. I groaned following him out. "Bryan don't be like that, you're the one who took it to a whole other level I was just messing around you know I'm not a mean person" I told him. He just nodded and patted my shoulder. "I know I'm sorry I did that I've just had a really bad day" he told me pushing his big glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Don't let people get to you, they are stupid you always have a friend with me and the girls" I smiled.

"I got a call from your new English teacher" Kelsey said as she sighed my detention slip. "It's no big deal he just had a bad day he didn't mean it" I told her. I don't want everyone to be mad at Bryan. He's constantly bullied and I'm sick of it. "I don't care what he said was wrong and I called his mother" she told me. "You did not!" I gasped. "I did!" She growled. "Dude you have no idea what he goes through at home why did you do that I handled it!" I yelled. I can't believe she did that I'm 16 I don't need her to fight my battles for me. "Don't worry she brushed it off and hung up on me" she sighed handing me a water. "Ughh I can't believe you!" I snapped running uo the stairs. That's ridiculous I don't need my sister to fight my battles for me. I'm a big girl and I can take care of myself. Why can't anyone see that?! I've Ben doing it my whole life. I carry myself very well and always have. Nothing makes me more angry than her doing that to me. She thinks she has to be in every aspect of my life and she doesn't. She's barely here and now her stupid fiance moved in and I'm once again alone so who the hell cares. "I invited your new teacher to dinner and he accepted!!" She yelled.

"Nikki!" Mark yelled. "Screw you mark I'm never going to listen to you! If you think you have something over me think again you're not my father and not my brother I won't listen to you I'm tired of you already!" I wailed . "Nikki!" Kelsey snapped. "You're grounded" mark told me making me laugh uncontrollably. "Friday night and Saturday night you will be here" he added. "That's enough from both of you I'm the guardian here mark you can't talk to her and try and controll her she's 16 she can make her own decisions with my imput. And Nikki stop disrespecting my fiance man you're being rude and I'm tired of it!" She yelled. "I want the old mark back who protected me from the Rath of my sister not the asshole who tried to run shit you have nothing to do with!" I hissed. He frowned at my words before sitting at the table. "I'm still the same" he said. "No you're not" Kelsey and I told him. "What do you mean?" He asked. "I liked that you stuck up for my little sister now it seems like you want to bury her and it's upsetting me maybe me asking you to move in was a bad idea" she told him. "No don't do that ass hat you change back and you I don't know but this shit isn't working" I told them. The door bell rang. "Language" Kelsey sighed opening the door.

Jay handed me a glass to put up out of the dishwasher. "So there's a party Friday at the black lagoon you should come" I smiled. "The black lagoon?" He asked. "It's this huge pond, to small to be a lake but to big to be a pond. The rocks at the bottom are all black and the water is crystal clear-" "making it look like black water" he finished. "Pretty much, nobody really knows were it is. I mean like cops" I chuckled. "I don't think so" he sighed. "Fine be stuck up" I said playfully nudging his side. I was a flirt always have been and always will be  "jay" a deep gruff voice boomed through the room even though it was barely above a whisper the power behind it made me shiver. "Think about it" I smiled at jay. He just nodded walking out. "You seemed fine after class" I heard Mr lunason. "I don't care what people think all he did was state the obvious, my parents are dead, my grandmother is dead" I told him. "And your eokay with that?" He asked. "My shrink seems to think so" I smiled walking away. I don't go to a shrink but it sounded good at the time.
