It was a cold, harsh, January morning when Castiel Novak was admitted to Brentwood Springs Psychiatric Hospital. The sky was a baby blue, almost as if his eyes were the color of the sky. There were no clouds, nothing to look at except the other person in the car, Sam Winchester. Castiel looked over at him nervously, then back at the trees and buildings. "H-How much longer u-until we get there?" The fragile boy mumbled out. "About 15 minutes." Castiel nodded, looking down at his fingers and taking in deep breaths. "Just stay calm Cas. It's okay. They're there to help you." The little voices in his head spoke over and over. Feeling anxious, Cas started to slowly get dizzy and nauseous. "S-Sam?" He looked over at him and bit his lip. "Yeah? Are you okay?" Sam looked over at him slightly and back at the road, trying to figure out what's wrong. "H-How much l-longer?" Cas' voice got lighter and lighter. "Only a few minutes. Hang in there buddy." Cas simply nodded, looking back at the road ahead of them.
Once they arrived, Castiel looked around at the institution. It looked scary to the boy. They knew they were only there to help him, and that he'd be okay in the end. Sam walked in with him, looking down at him occasionally to make sure he doesn't run off. He slid in his ID card into the slot and walked in to the front desk. "Hey Naomi." He said signing some papers. The girl smiled softly and looked up at him. "Hey Sam! Who have we got here?" She said, smiling like a fool. Sam smiled a little, looking down at Cas. "This is Castiel Novak. He's in for the trauma." Naomi nodded and typed quickly on her computer, then smiling softly. "Alright Castiel, you've got Dean Winchester as your doctor. One of the best. Your room number is 164 and Sam will pick someone who's been here a while to show you around. Here is your uniform." She smiled and handed Cas a light blue uniform. "See you later!" She smiled again and waved, going back to typing on her computer.
Sam showed him to room 164 and let him get changed into the uniform. Once Castiel comes back out, Sam leads him to another room, which is the room of Raphael. Raphael was known for being aggressive, but not usually. Sam lightly knocked on the door and stepped back a step, not wanting to anger him. Raphael opened the door and bit his lip. "Yeah?" He spoke softly. "We have a new patient. Would you mind showing him around?" Raphael nodded, opening his door more and stepping out. Sam leaned over to him, whispering something. "His father just died a very traumatic death. Don't expect much out of him." He nodded again, looking over at Cas and smiling. "So you're Castiel? Sweet name." Cas smiled and spoke softly, words coming out hoarse. "T-Thanks." Raphael nodded and looked over at Sam. "I got it. Don't worry." He smiled softly again and started walking.
After Raphael finished the tour of the institution, he headed back to his room, as did Cas. He sat down on the creaky, white, stiff bed and rested his head on the pillow. "This is why you're here you idiot. You can't even handle a damn death in your family. It was your fault! Your dad is dead because of you!" The voices in his head kept convincing him things, some things not even true. The fact that he killed his father, that is true. He kept thinking about it, hearing the voices in his head. The boy tried to convince himself it wasn't him, and that it was the murderer, but he was the murderer.
"Castiel Novak?" An unfamiliar voice snapped him out of his thoughts and he looked up at the door. "Y-Yeah?" fear trembled in his eyes as he looked at the man in the doorway. "Come with me. I'm your doctor Mr. Winchester." Cas nodded and sat up, walking over to him.
Mr. Winchester led him down to his office down the hall opened the door, stepping in. "Please close the door behind you." Cas looked behind him, closing the door softly then sitting down. "So, Mr. Novak, do you know why you're here?" Cas slowly nodded, his eyes looking at the doctor's. "I-I'm here because I-I'm fucking insane and I can't handle myself." The doctor bit his lip and looked through a stack of papers, looking through a folder with Cas' name on it. "It says here you have severe head trauma, depression, and anxiety. Is this correct?" Castiel simply nodded and twiddled his fingers. Dean took in a deep breath and layed the papers back down on the desk. "So, Castiel, are you aware how your father died?" Castiel got a little teary eyed and nodded, keeping his eyes on the ground. "Tell me. We have to have proof that you do." Dean bit at his lip nervously, watching him. "I-I killed him. I-I stabbed him." Cas let out a tear and quickly wiped it away. Dean nodded and writes something down in his papers. "Alright Castiel, we're going to put you on some medications." Cas looked up at him and bit his lip. "L-Like what?" The doctor looked through his papers again and searched for a certain paper. "Since you might be here a while, and we can't predict what your mind will do, you'll be on Diuretic for your head trauma, and Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor for your anxiety and also depression. I know that sounds like a lot to take in, but you'll get used to it." Dean smiled softly and ruffled through more papers. "Well, it looks like you're all done here. I just wanted to inform you of that." Cas simply nodded and started to get up. "C-Can I go now?" Dean nodded and looked up at him. "Do you know your way back? I can walk you back." Cas shook his head and smiled a little. "I'm okay. Thanks." Dean nodded and started looking through more papers.
When Cas walks down the halls of this hospital, something doesn't feel right. It feels like he should be at home, talking with his brothers and sisters, mom and-dad. No, he won't think about them. They're all in the past. It doesn't matter what happened, because he's here now. And he's here to get help.
That's what he's here for right?
