Chapter 14

3 MONTHS LATER : BABY SHOWER

          I walk down the stairs wearing the dress I got 3 months before. Today is month 8! One more month untill Madeline is born! Today is also my baby shower! I'm so excited! In these three months, alot has happened. I threw Carter an eighteenth birthday party and Mark and I got him a moterbike. My parents got thrown in jail. Carter bought a house around the block and got a nice girlfriend named Eileen and a roomate named Drake. Drake is like, suuuuuper hot and Eileen is suuuuuuuuper nice. Ryan and Mandy are an official couple and we all made up again. I got another ultrasound and you can see the baby sooo clearly now! The soccer team has put bets up on what the baby will look like and most of the school got involved so I'm pretty shure that the pool is up to $800 bucks, ten bucks a person. They all have to wait a year before they know, though. But I still threw in ten bucks saying it will have red hair and brown eyes. I split that with like, twenty people.

          Eileen helped me get ready. She helped me into my dress (my bump is as big as a barrel, I swear). Then she did my hair and makeup. For my hair, she curled my red locks and put it into an eleant bun. Then for my makeup, she made it look nice yet natural. She put a nice light brown eyeshadow, and mascara and a light bit of pink lip gloss.

          Here we go! My baby shower for little Maddie! I cant help but put one protective arm around my stomach as I descended the stairs. The second I was at the bottom I was covered in pink streamers and baloons. They all cheered. The music was blasting. I cant believe its already been 8 months! Only one more month! Mark decided to let us turn the basement apartment into our little home. Theres three bedrooms so we were thinking one for us, one for Maddie, and one spair. We painted her room pink last month with a bunch of multi-colored heart stickers. We also put a light purple crib in her room and a lamp that spins, giving off little heart-shaped light bouncing off the walls. We were stacking all the diapers, clothes and all those neccesities in the huge sliding-door closet.

          I sat on the couch next to Damon and Mandy. I caught up with Mandy, well Damon caught up with Ryan. "So, yeah. Like, Ryan and I are totally together now. What do you think of us?" she asked me. I smiled at her "Thats cute. You guys make an adorable couple" I said she grinned at me and tucked a piece of her perfectly straightened hair behind her ear. "I think I should tell you something now. I didnt use to like you. Infact, I hated you. It was because his mom always liked you, you were the one aloud to have sleepovers and all that stuff. I guess I was just jealous. But, I'm not actually a blonde bimbo y'know. Damon was the first one I let see that." she said. All I could do was nod, spit on my hand, and stick it out in front of me "Truce?" I said. She looked down at my hand, then hers, then mine again, then my face. "Its not gonna kill you" I sighed. She took in a deep breath, spit on her hand, and stuck it on my hand and shook. She pulled away fast and pulled sanitizer off the table, cleaning her hands. I chuckled.

          We were halfway through opening the gifts. I had opened two jolly-jumpers, more clothes then I can count, a ton of diapers, a thousand stuffed animals, toys and soft baby books. Now I was opening the gift from Mandy. I reached my hand into the gift bag and my fingers wrapped around soft, smooth fabric. I pulled it up and there in my lap was a pink (purple lined) soft as anything baby blanket. At the bottom in a soft purple fabric Madeline was written' in cursive. I looked over and gave her a big hug. "Thanks Mandy! I love it and I'm shure she'll love it." she nodded and leaned back in her seat. Was that... a tear?

          I looked at the next, huge, bag and checked the tag. To: Maddie. From: The Team I continued to open it. There was a HUGE metal thing in it. I pulled it out and there on my lap sat our team picture from last year when we won Championship in the Soccer League. It had all of our signatures on it. I started sobbing as I jumped up and hugged all of them. "I love you guys soo much! I cant believe it! This is soooo going in her room! Th-" I was cut off by Mandys ear-splitting scream. I looked over to her surprised. "Whats wrong?!" I shouted. All she could do was point to the ground under me. I looked down and I noticed I was standing in a puddle that was still dripping from down my dress. Then I heard those feared words come from Eileen. "Her water broke!"
