Chapter 17

5 YEARS LATER -- MADELYNS P.O.V

         "So are you excited?" Terry asked me. "Well, I dont know really. I mean, I havnt seen her since I was five and she had to spend the last five years in an asylum so... I dont know." I concluded and pushed a strand of dark hair out of my eyes. Terry stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and turned to me, her green eyes searching my face. "She's still your mom, Maddie. What if you dont like her? What will you do?" she asked and I sighed. "I know I just... I dont know. I dont know how my dad stands it" I sighed and she romance sighed. 

          "I find it so romantic, I mean. A man raising his daughter for five years alone well he waits for his phsycotic wife driven crazy from a terrid miscarrige. Five years later she comes home recovered to her awaiting husband" she said as we started walking again. "I've heard the story, Terry" I pointed out. "I know! Did your dad say what she was like before...?" she asked and I nodded. 

          "He said shes a tomboy and if she sets her mind to anything, she can do it. She planned me when I was 12. Apparently I have her eyes" I finished. "Well this is your house so... give me a hug and goodluck" I ran over to her and buried my face in her blonde hair. "Thanks for being there for me" I mumbled and she nodded. "Bye babe" I said and ran into the house. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the lady on the sofa talking to my dad, and the huge grin that filled his face. The lady had red straight hair to her hips and grass green eyes. Her lips were red and she had a black t shirt and jeans on. 

          I went into the living room and sat on the sofa across from them. They automatically stopped talking and looked at me. "Hey dad" I started. "Hi honey, how was school?" he asked me. "It was good. Terrys slumbering tonight, kay?" "Alright honey. Why dont you say hi?" he asked and tilted his head towards the red head. "Hi" I said and she jumped up and embraced me. "I missed you so much Maddie! Listen, tomorrow Im taking you out for dinner and I want to hear all about the past few years okay?" she asked and I nodded. 

          "I'm so sorry for not being there for you, hon. I love you, I really do. No matter what happens, I'm your mother" she said and I hugged her. "I'm going to my room now, okay?" I asked and she nodded. "Okay hon"

          "Guess who's here!?" I heard their voices upstairs. I jumped up from my laptop and ran into the living room. "Hey Uncle Carter and Ryan. Hey aunt Eileen and Mandy" I said and hugged them. "Hey hon'! Wheres your mom?" Mandy asked me. "I think she's in the kitchen with dad" I said and all but Carter left. Carter had been the only one I could actually "talk" to since my mom left. 

          "How are you holding up?" he asked me. "Pretty good. I mean, its tough but... pretty good" I concluded and he nodded. "Alright hon' well, I'm going to see your mom but just shout my name if you needa talk, okay?" he asked and I nodded.

          The doorbell rang and I rushed forward to let Shelby and Terry in. "Whats she like?" they asked and I mouthed "My Room"

          "So dinner tomorrow, eh?" Shelby asked and I nodded. "I'm kind of afraid of what it will be like" "Want us to come? We could put on my grandma's glasses and scarves and hide at the table behind you" Terry said and I laughed. "I might just have to take you up on that offer"

CARMINS P.O.V

         "So how is she? Whats she like?" I asked Damon then saw my four best friends walk in out of the corner of my eye. "Guys!" I screamed then ran over and hugged the girls, kissed Ryan on the cheek, and bear hugged Carter. "Carmin!" They all shouted and I laughed. I looked up at Carters tall build. "Jesus look at you, ya 28 year old!" I joked. "Your just a small 21 year old" he laughed and i went to Eileen. "I hope Carters been nice!" I said and she nodded. "Of course!" then I went to Mandy. "Mandy hon. Are you ever going to grow?" I giggled and she shook her head. "Nah! Petites more  my style!" she said and I went up to Ryan. "How about that scholorship?" I asked. "Dont you ever watch TV? Cause' if you did you would know that I'm, like, national!

          "Thank you guys, for raising her. I just went a little over the top, ya know? And I guess I needed some time" I said and they nodded. "Of course! Anytime!" Eileen stepped up. "Hopefully there isnt another time" Carter said and I nodded in agreement. "Lets cross our fingers"
