I tried to attack him. I tried to kill him. Really, I did. I tried to wrap my hands around his neck. I couldn't move. Something was stopping me. There were leather straps around my wrists and ankles."I can't move. Why can't I move."
Nathan looked at me. He smiled. No ones smiled at me in a long time.
"Morning."
"Why am I strapped to the table."
He ran his fingers through his curly hair. I wish I could do that.
"I'm so sorry about that. You were crying out and thrashing around in your sleep. Another doctor came in and did this. I tried to stop him but I'm new so I really had no right to. Its totally unorthadox."
I believed him.
Why? You're an idiot Jinx.
Go away Anna.
And she did.
"How are you feeling?"
He has a clipboard. Right, he's a doctor. But he said he was my friend and he's very nice.
"I'm tired. My ankles and wrists hurt. I don't want to be here"
He nodded. His curls bounced up and down when he did that.
"Would you like to go to my office and talk or would you like to stay here?"
"Your office. Please."
At his office I sat down in the soft red chair infront of his desk. He sat down at his desk.
"What happened to Dr Connors?"
My old doctor.
"He was moved to another part of the hospital."
"So, are you my doctor now?"
He nodded and smiled again.
"But I would like to be more then just your doctor. Think of me as a friend."
He's lying Jinx.
"They all tell me that."
Another smile.
"But I mean it."
No he doesn't.
"No you don't"
He leaned back in his chair, folding his hands on his stomach.
"What can I say to convince you?"
Nothing.
"You can't"
"Well, I'm sorry to hear that."
He really does look sorry.
"Tell me something that no one else knows."
He chuckled. It was a nice sound. I wonder what his laugh sounds like.
"Alright, um, I only brush my teeth with spearmint toothpaste and I love the smell of freshly mowed grass."
Thats stupid.
Stop Anna. Just for now.
She stopped.
"What about you? What is something that no one else knows?"
Should I lie?
Yes.
No, I don't think I will.
"I hate the colour pink, and I love the smell of pine trees."
"Thats nice, I love pine trees. I go hiking a lot."
It feels good talking to Nathan. I like it.
"I've never been hiking before."
He looked surprised, like he couldn't believe that an 18 year old anorexic, schizo, girl had never been hiking.
"Maybe when you're better, I could take you"
I think I like Nathan.
