Inside A Book, Inside Your Heart

Chapter One

Dianna is a character in one of Zoe's favorite books, "The Glass Dungeon". It's a story of lies, adventure, and dragons. It takes place in a modern world where dragons do exist and shared secrets with humanity. The characters escape a dungeon of transparent walls with new dragon allies. Zoe had read the book so many times, she could recite it in her sleep. Dianna had relived the story every time Zoe read the book, and enjoyed seeing Zoe smile as she read. She desperately wanted to tell her that, but there was no way to. Zoe was real, and Dianne was a character in her favorite book.

Zoe picked up her favorite book and began the adventure all over again. "The Glass Dungeon is where prisoners are sent to wander a confusing transparent maze until they die. Often, the government sent innocents to their deaths here for nothing more than supporting the dragons in their fight to gain rights in the cities they helped to build. Dianne found herself here for this reason. It was only fair for dragons to be equal, in Dianne's opinion. She wandered, as to see the exit far away but unable to see the walls blocking her path. If she got there, she had a chance of escape." Zoe whispered to nobody but herself.

Dianne made her way through some of the maze as Zoe read. As she went on her story's written path, she began to think. Could she change the story? Maybe then she could talk to the reader she thought of so dearly. Then she heard something from Zoe's side of the book.

"Hey, nerd!" came a gruff voice. "What are you reading now?" The book was snatched away from Zoe, and held above her head. "Sam, give that back!" Zoe was reaching for her book, but was too short. "What are you going to do, cry?" This continued until Zoe was shoved to the ground, along with her treasured book.

All Dianne was able to do was listen as Zoe was shoved around. She wanted to comfort Zoe, but she was real, and Dianne was not.
