Melanie ran down stairs as her mama called her.
This didn't happen often so when it did excitement rushed through Melanie's veins.
"Sit at the table,mel"
Melanie did so, sitting down with her legs crossed and hands folded on the table.

"So I called you down today to talk about something"
"Yes mama"
"I was thinking , now that you're 14 and your lips are still non-existent,your nose is still as big,hair is still the same ugly shade of brown and your chest is still flat."
"Maybe it's time for some surgery?"
"Mama, I-I I don't know if I want that?"
"Of course you do Melanie, don't be stupid...look at you.
You don't see all the girls at your school with no lips and brown faded hair and big noses."
"Believe me they all do it"
"Mama, I'll have to think about it first"
"Melanie you don't get a choice...have you ever had a boyfriend?"
"No...mama" Melanie said in shame.
"Exactly it's because of your looks, now if you want boyfriends and popularity you'll have to do it. I'm going the best for you. The best for us. Now go to your room and don't come out"
