It just started to snow, and Virginia was freezing as always. I was at an outside mall shopping for Christmas presents, last minute as always. I had already bought Mason a few things from bath and body works and Ethan a black thrasher shirt. Now all I have to do is buy for Grayson and my Dad. I decided on just getting Grayson a portable charger and my Dad a Nike baseball hat.
It was around 9 pm and the mall was about to close so I had to hurry. I stopped at radio shack for Grayson and the Nike store for my Dad.
"Catherine!" I heard a familiar voice yell. I hope it's not him. Please don't be him. I turn around. It's him.
"Kyle..." I say slowly. He was walking up to me with a few bags in his hands. He was smiling as if nothing ever happened.
His arms wrapped around my body, but I didn't hug back. But I also didn't resist.
"You look great." He said pulling away but holding my shoulders. I show a small smile and raised my eye brows. "I remember last year, we were both last minute shopping for each other. We ran into each other and just exchanged presents right then and there. We kissed and it started to snow. I'll never forget that day." He commented with a nostalgic smile. I blush, remembering that day. And no, I don't miss him. It would just be nice to... have him?
I hate myself.
"That was a great day. We should meet up sometime soon. Catch up a bit." I suggested with a real smile, replacing my plastic one. He grinned and raised his eye brow.
"I'd like that. A lot, actually. I'll call you. Merry Christmas gorgeous." He said with a wink. We parted ways, and I grinned at the name he always called me.
Gorgeous.
It just made me happy in every way. I began the journey to my car, and I just couldn't wait to go be with Ethan Grayson and Mason. Last year Kyle was there, and yeah it is kind of hard to spend Christmas single. Don't get me wrong, cheating is terrible but everyone deserves a second chance. Right?
After a car ride filled with Christmas music, I arrived at our apartment. I fumbled with my keys and unlocked the door, revealing Grayson pacing back and fourth. He stopped when I walked in and looked at me.
"Where... where are they?" I asked looking around the empty house. Grayson stepped closer to me with a sad look on his face.
"Your Dad passed out. When he collapsed on the floor I went to the bathroom... and he took everything. All of the Advil, NyQuil, cough syrup, allergy medicine and pills I didn't even know were there. Mason and Ethan went with him in the ambulance. He's fine and awake now. I wanted to tell you in person." He explained slowly. I heard a ringing in my ears and all other sound was blocked out. I stared at the wall and dropped the bags turning around.
"I need air..." I mumbled walking out. My mind rushed a million miles a minute as I walked through the hallway. Everything went fuzzy with my tear filled eyes. I knew the hall ways so well my lack of vision didn't really matter. I decided to take the stairs, and soon I was walking through the snowy sidewalk, my tears feeling like they would freeze to my face.
I walk to the lake that I always go to to clear my head. My hands were shaking and my lip was quivering.
I thought he was happy. How could I have trusted him again? Everything was going so well I just... I just don't know anything anymore.
The sidewalk became slippery and it was harder to walk. I wipe my tears and began to run.
Soon, my left foot caught my right ankle and I fell to the cement hitting my head. I roll onto my back and look at the stars. I felt my eyes begin to close, but I fought for them to stay open. I plan to stand up and go home, but I can't move.
My eyes get heavier and heavier, and they close.

Grayson's pov:
She's been gone for a while now. A few hours, actually. I should probably go look for her. I get up from the couch and start to walk out, ready to go to the lake that she thinks that I don't know about.
I slip on a hoodie and a beanie, ready for the harsh weather. I took the stairs, not wanting to waste any time waiting for an elevator.
When I left the building, the cold air hit me like a whip. Snow decorated the streets and leafless trees, showing tell tale signs of winter.
After walking for about five minutes, I saw the sidewalk leading to the lake. I followed it, and saw a figure laying down in the distance. My walking grew to a sprint.
There she was. On the floor with blue lips, shaking like a leaf. Her lips were chapped and I could see tears frozen to her cheeks.
"Catherine!" I yell, getting no response. I felt her chest to try and find a heart beat. It was faint and slow but it was there. This was in an area where no one could see, unless you were specifically going to the lake.
I picked her up bridal style and ran all the way back to the apartment. I barely looked ahead of me because the whole time I was looking down at her.
She didn't even look like herself. Her lips were usually full and pink, but now they were pale colorless and cracked.
We got back to the apartment complex and everyone in the lobby stared at me as I ran to the stairs.
"G-gray?" She stuttered out in a whisper. We got to our flor and I opened our door. She looked around confused and started to shiver even more in my arms.
"Yeah, it's me. I thought I was going to lose you." I said slowly as I walked to her room. I gave her dads bag to Ethan as they were leaving, so nothing of his remains in here. I set her down on the bed.
Catherine's pov You Grayson set me on my bed and took off his hoodie, immediately handing it to me. I put it on and I felt instantly warmer. The blankets tempted me, so I slid under them and felt so much better.
"Thank you Grayson." I said looking up at him. He smiled and began to walk away. "Wait... Grayson?" I called out making his head turn back to me. "Do you think you can sleep with me? I don't want to be alone." I said looking down kind of embarrassed. Before I could look back up to him, he was laying right next to me, holding me close.
"Of course I will." He said putting his arm around my chest. He body heat starts to transfer to me and I stopped shivering.
My fore head was resting on his chest and my leg was over him. He ran his hand up and down my back slowly, calming me down.
I closed my eyes happily and drifted off into a much more peaceful sleep. It's midnight where I am and I should be asleep getting a good start tomorrow where I'm taking a big math test, but I'm a shitty human being and that's not how it works.
