-time skip to New Year's Eve-
I slip on my silver heels, ready to go to Kyle's for a New Years party. He also invited Grayson, and he was bringing Madison. The girl he started to date a few days ago, and to say she hated me would be an understatement.
If they were in the living room and I walked in, they would disappear into Grayson's room. I barely saw him anymore. She made my best friend practically dead to me.
I looked in the mirror, pretty happy with the way I looked. Madison was in Grayson's room with him, no surprise there.
"If we want to stop for food before the party we have to leave now." I say walking into Grayson's room finding them hardcore making out. Madison rolled her eyes and got up pushing past me. She was whispering something under her breath but I honestly couldn't care less.
Grayson got up and followed her like a pet dog and sighed. I knew he was unhappy and it killed me.
I followed after him, and Madison was already out the door. We decided that I would drive and they would ride in the back. Madison was whispering to Grayson and giggling the whole time. Every time I looked back at them Grayson looked annoyed.
Grayson's favorite song, I Don't Mind came on and I looked in the mirror to see him smiling back at me.
"Ugh this song is so ew. Change it now. My ears will explode if I listen to this one more second, am I right Gray?" She whined with a laugh. Grayson looks at the floor and frowns.
He didn't say anything and nobody did for a few seconds. I didn't change the song, and I knew Grayson didn't want me to.
"Are you deaf or something? Change your dumb music so we can listen to something everyone agrees on." She scolded. Her words hurt me, the way they did every time she said something like that.
"This is Grayson's favorite song. And if you really knew him you would know that he loves it, because he was listening to it when he finally did a 360 in the air at the skate park after trying for weeks. Driver controls the radio anyway." I said as calm as I could as I turned up the volume to the song and tightened my grip on the steering wheel.
Grayson was looking out the window and every time Madison tried to whisper to him he would shrug her off. After a completely awkward car ride, we finally pulled up to McDonald's.
"Hi welcome to McDonalds I'll be with you in a minute." The person on the speaker said. I didn't bother looking at the menu, knowing that Grayson and I wanted nuggets and a coke.
"Is the burger a vegan burger here?" Madison asked, obviously trying to show off. I saw her eating bacon two days ago.
I turned and looked at her with the bitch-did-you-really-just-say-that face. She batted her eyelashes innocently, as if she didn't just ask about a veggie burger at McDonald's. Freaking McDonald's!
"No. It is not a veggie burger." I said through gritted teeth. "Grayson you want nuggets right?"
He began to nod his head yes but he was interrupted by you guessed it- Madison.
"Babe, no. Meat is murder. I can wait till the party where there are options not dipped in fat, but you can get fries if you want." She said granting him permission. He sighed and nodded, indicating that he would settle for Madison's wishes. (Nothing against you if you are vegan or vegetarian<3 )
I ordered my nuggets and Large fries for Grayson, paying for it without hesitation. Grayson thanked me, and we got our food.
When we got it, Madison wouldn't stop picking out of Grayson's fries. What happened to not wanting anything?
"Babe, you said you didn't want anything. If you were hungry you could have said something." Grayson huffed. Madison glared daggers at him and slapped his hand, making him wince in pain.
"Be a gentleman." She hissed with a mouth full of his fries. I rolled my eyes, and happily ate my nuggets the whole way there.
--------------------------------
It was around eleven, and everyone at the party was just sitting around the couch area talking and laughing. I layed between Kyle's legs on the couch, and Madison leaned on Grayson's shoulder, but he didn't look comfortable.
We were drinking, since we were the legal age, but I didn't have anything to drink yet. Kyle is a completely different story though. At party's he goes... over the top. He also sometimes says random things. So, he in the middle of no where said this,
"Did you guys know that Catherine's right boob is smaller than her left boob? It's really weird." He blurted out. Everyone was really quiet and Mason gave him a glare. Madison laughed way too loud.
"Babe... stop." I whispered looking back at him with wide eyes. He just smiled.
"Don't worry, I love your weird tits." He said with a laugh and grabbed my boobs quickly, but so hard that I let out a small whimper. Some people were laughing quietly. I felt so embarrassed.
"Shut up man she's perfect." Grayson said in an annoyed tone. Kyle slowly turned his head to Grayson's direction and I felt his body tense.
"Did I ask you? That's my girl, why don't you lay off." Kyle growled as he stood up. Grayson stood up also, and by human nature everyone starts to get up and encourage a fight.
Everyone was clapping and yelling, but the last thing I wanted was for them to fight.
Madison was whining and fake crying, but  Grayson couldn't care less. I jumped up and stood in between them.
"Guys... don't do this. Let's just have some fun and chill out." I said holding both of their chests back. I looked at Grayson with pleading eyes, begging he wouldn't do this.
Luckily, the fight didn't happen and we just danced the rest of the night. Grayson got pretty tipsy and he waddled up to me looking like a blind penguin.
He grabbed my shoulders and pulled me in for a tight hug. I laughed as he started to whisper in my ear.
"Do you know Catherine? My roommate?" He asked in a slur. He was genuinely asking if I knew me. Lovely.
"I've heard of her. Why?" I ask holding him up so he didn't fall over. He began to laugh and stopped abruptly.
"I love her. Madison is just a friggen frick. Catherine is so pretty, and she's too good for Kyle. Don't tell her I said that." He said and held his finger to my lips. My eyes widened and I felt my heart rate stop.
Is this real? Did Grayson really just say that to me? But I don't know if I feel the same way or not...
"10...9...8..7" everyone began to count down and I looked for Kyle. He wasn't anywhere to be seen, but I didn't believe in those silly superstitions anyway.
Grayson walked behind me looking for Madison and I just stood there, still in shock. Maybe he was just delusional.
"3...2...1!" I felt a pair lips in mine, and saw Grayson. I closed my eyes and kissed back. It was magic. It was like a kiss in a movie. Everything was in slow motion as I ran my hands through his hair and he pulled my waist.
Everyone disappeared. Kyle wasn't there, Madison wasn't there, and we were alone. In our own world. We were all that mattered.
He slowly pulled away, as I still held his hair. He didn't let go of my waist and I stared at him, finally seeing him clear. The way I should have been feeling for years.
I saw that he was the one. He always had been. When I'm sad he makes me happy and when I'm happy he makes me happier.
"Grayson?" We heard Madison call out from somewhere in the house. Grayson and I quickly broke apart.
She saw us and walked at us with her same old plastic smile.
"I was looking for my phone, I think I'm going to uber home I'm really tired." She said with a yawn. Grayson nodded and pecked her on the cheek.
I watched her leave, and guilt began to overflow my emotions. I walked to go find Kyle.
