Shawn
I laid in bed thinking about what Jeff had said. I'm starting to realize it. She is no good. She doesn't love me. I tell her I love her, and she's never even said it back. How can I be so stupid? People say it's not supposed to be, tell me not to waste my time, but this was never up to me...and honestly I don't mind. I can't help that I love her. I love her more than anything. I just wish she felt the same.
I checked the time and noticed I should've left five minutes ago to pick her up. She smiled at me as she got in the car and I weakly smiled back. I started driving in silence. I usually talk, but I can't bring myself to even look at her. She's too perfect to even be real. That's the problem. It's not real. She doesn't love me.
"Guess what?" She asked impatiently.
"What?"
"I'm going to fashion week in Paris!" She squealed.
"Evie, that's amazing!" I exclaimed. It's always been her dream. She's a designer and a model. She's perfect, no surprise there.
"So I was wondering..." she trailed off.
"Wondering...what?" I questioned.
"Um, if you maybe...wanted to go with me?" She asked nervously. I glanced over at her, surprised at her words. Why would she want me there? She doesn't even care about me? "I really want you there." She added.
"Okay, yeah I'd love to." I shrugged. She smiled, making me smile also. She grabbed my hand in hers as I focused on driving.
Fashion week is next week. I have to get over her. I don't think I can though. I think it would hurt more to lose her. I can try to stop it all I like, but hands down I've lost this fight.
"You okay Shawn?" She asked, breaking me out of my thoughts. I nodded and avoided eye contact. It's hard to lie to her.
She continued playing with my fingers until we got to the old abandoned building. This is our secret spot. We like to sit on the rooftop and look at the stars. It's just our thing. I grabbed the blankets from the backseat before we went inside and up the stairs to the top floor. She lifted the panel from the ceiling and climbed up the ladder as I followed. I laid out a blanket and we laid down, putting another one over us. I put my hands behind my head as I looked up at the stars. She propped her head up with her elbow and peered at me.
"Shawn, what's wrong?" She asked softly.
"Nothing." I mumbled.
"I know that's not true. I see it in your eyes." She placed her hand on my cheek, rubbing it softly.
"I'm just tired. Don't worry." I lied and faked a smile.
"Okay." She whispered and laid her head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around her, dissolving the space between us. I just want her to be mine, actually mine. My heart is slowly breaking into pieces, and it's all because of her.
One week later
Evelyn happily skilled through the airport as she held onto my hand. "We are in Paris Shawn!"
I smiled in awe as I looked around. "This is amazing."
"I'm so excited!" She exclaimed.
It hit me once we got to the hotel room. This is the first time we'll be staying the night together. I couldn't be happier, but I don't know how she feels about it.
"Stop stressing. It's gonna be fine." I said, gently rubbing her shoulders from behind her as she sat on her laptop.
"Two shipments of my clothes didn't come in Shawn! How am I supposed to do the show tomorrow?" She asked, almost in tears.
"Hey, it's okay. I know you can do it." I said softly as I continued rubbing her shoulders.
"I've gotta get down there to sort through everything and fix it now." She sighed and shut her laptop frustratedly. "You wanna come?"
"Sure." I agreed and slipped on my shoes as she did the same. She looked perfect in her white shorts and Calvin Kleins. Her beauty still blows me away. Even in her frantic state, she looked perfect.
"Coffee Miss.Adams?" An employee asked as we arrived.
"Yes, thank you." She grabbed two, handing one to me.
People were rushing around everywhere as many racks of clothing were being pushed around. "This is chaos."
"I know. It's amazing right?" She asked with a sparkle in her eyes.
"Kind of scary." I said making her giggle.
She grabbed my hand, pulling me through a door that said Adams department. There were people already rushing around, separating all of the clothing on racks. Wow.
"There's some food over there if you get hungry and try not to get lost." She commented before joining the rush. Maybe they have muffins.
