Hi guys! Since I kept on leaving this book with just the copyright statement up, I decided to go ahead and write a prologue of it. You know, just to kill you guys with anticipation (if you guys aren't already dead). I hope you guys like it!
love,
ceelia.

"Really Carlos?" The shrill sound of the woman's voice echoed through the quiet house, "You cannot expect me to give up the little freedom I have after I agreed to move with you to this... this dump!" She screams. "Calm down, Nora. We can talk about this." Carlos's voice is more calm and collected, but it seemed to rile the other woman up even more.
"No, Carlos. I refuse to do this anymore. I married you because you promised to give me the world. Instead you bring me to the middle of nowhere and expect me to look after those little brats!" Nora exclaims and throws her shiny brown locks over her shoulder. "I expected you to understand, Nora. I have never asked anything of you other than your love." Carlos says and Nora whips around to face him, her eyes are narrowed.
"I thought I was being understanding, Carlos. When you uprooted our whole lives in the city and brought me here!" She says, clearly outraged. The jewels on her ear click with her frantic movements.
"You mean uprooted you from your clubbing and sleeping around." Carlos says and Nora remains silent for a minute. "How long have you known?" She asks, not bothering to deny it. "I maybe the oldest of my brothers, but I am not stupid." Carlos says. "I know everything about you and Mason too. So don't bother denying it." He growls and Nora doesn't bother answering. Instead, she just laughs.
"I was getting tired of hiding it. And I am sick of your children." She hisses, as she moved to pack her bags. "I want a divorce." She says and Carlos takes a deep breath. This wasn't the first time she asked for one, but this time, Carlos had enough.
"Keep all your jewels." He says, "I'll contact the lawyer first thing tomorrow." He says and Nora nods. "I would like to get a reasonable compensation of what you made me go through." She says and Carlos wonders for a moment just what had made him fall in love with the shallow woman in front of him. Nora hadn't always been this materialistic.
"Good bye, Nora." Carlos's voice is calm and final. His soon to be ex-wife pauses in front of the door, and turns slightly to address him. "I've always hated how calm you are." She says before she opens the door and steps completely out of his life.
Carlos sits down heavily on the pastel sofa and lowers his face into his hands, wondering just how was he going to tell his little boys that their mother had left them.
"Papa?" The soft voice coming from the stairs had Carlos whipping around, startled. Tsar and Theo stand at the last step, both looked like mirror images of each other, if not for their different pajamas. "Yes?" Carlos tires not to let his wariness show, but the boys have already picked up on it. The twins were always too sharp for their age.
"Mama left." It was Theo who spoke first, and it came out more of a statement than a question. Carlos slowly nods, not knowing quite how to react. Both twins move in unison and come to stand in front of him, their eyes are solemn and too mature to suit their looks.
"It's OK, Papa," Tsar says, patting Carlos lightly on his hand, "We know." He adds. "We don't want a mother who doesn't need us." Theo says and Carlos cannot help burst into tears. He pulls both his sons into a tight hug. The normally quiet night echoed with heaving wails of despair as the oldest Cavelli wept for his loss love, for the mistake he might have prevented, he wept, mostly for his little sons, who had to face the harsh sting of their parents separating at such a young age.
He wept, for the unfairness of the world.
