"Clara!" The doctor runs out of the TARDIS into my apartment. He has got to stop materializing in here.

"What is it?"

"I just heard about a spaceship with a-" he stops talking when he notices a pocket watch on my shelf.

"Where did you get this?" he asks and holds the watch up. He looks worried and his eyes are watery.

"I don't know, I've always had it... Are you okay?"

"Clara, this is important! Where did you get it?! Have you ever opened it?!"

"No, it's broken. You're really starting to scare me, Doctor."

"How do you know it's broken if you've never opened it?"

"Why would I? It's just a pocket watch..."

"No. No, it's not. It's a device, a device that rewrites biology. It- it turns time lords into humans. But why would you have it?!" He gets his screwdriver and scans me.

"But I am human! I've always been human!"

"Open it" he says quietly. "Please, just open it..."

"It's just a regular watch! You seriously don't believe I am a time lord, do you? Doctor?"

We're quiet for a while. "Okay" I say slowly "I'll open it."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah... as sure as I'll ever be."

I stare at the watch for a few seconds and then I open it.

I hear voices. Voices I should never have forgotten. The last one echoes in my head, "one day I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there shall be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs, and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mind... goodbye Susan, goodbye my dear."
