Wildcat's PoV

My guidance counselor says happiness comes from the heart... and apparently I don't have one. No matter where I go or what I do, I'm trapped in this empty void of pure hatred and darkness. I can't escape it, so I've learned to live with it. I don't talk to any of the kids at school. I don't talk to my own family anymore. I just sit by myself in the far corner of the classroom, all alone and helpless.
My psychiatrist says it's unhealthy not to smile... and apparently I'm the sickest man in the world. I hardly eat... hardly sleep. When I do sleep, I don't dream. It's just an empty pit of darkness until I wake up into another world of nothingness. I don't see the vibrant colors of the world anymore... Yeah, I know they're there, but I don't acknowledge them... I can't acknowledge them. All I can do is stare at the different shades of black and grey, knowing I'll never be able to really appreciate the different colors of the world.
"Settle down, students! We have a new student today!" The teacher exclaims, breaking me from my thoughts. I slowly look up to see a guy standing in front of the chalk board. His curly, caramel colored hair stops just above his eyebrows. He has a hazel eyes that tilt a little to the brownish side, and a pair of glasses with thick lenses. He seems... Colorful. "Kids, this is Craig, he'll be your new classmate." The teacher states bluntly before moving over to his desk. Craig let out a small giggle as the populars immediately adopt him into their little group. I watch as his hair bounces a little with every step he takes. I feel something tug at my lips as I quickly find myself trying to smile. My eyes widen as I quickly look away, feeling the traces of what would've been a smile quickly fade. W-What the fuck?! That's never happened before! What did that guy do?!
I take a few deep breaths, calming myself down as I slowly sink into my chair. "Hi there~" A voice chirps from next to me. I turn my head to see the new kid, his face only inches from mine. I gasp and jolt back, feeling an unfamiliar warmth rise to my cheeks. He giggles a soft melody with a cheeky grin. "Didn't mean to scare ya~ I'm Craig! You looked a little lonely over here, so I thought I'd give you some company~ Plus my new friends told me that you were impossible to talk to, so I took up the challenge!" Craig explains cheerfully. I regain my posture before letting out a sigh. "Well your friends are right, so scram." I huff, my voice gravelly from where I haven't used it much. Craig is taken aback for a moment before smiling again. "You are stubborn, I can tell you that much, but I'm sure I'll be able to crack that thick skull of yours in no time~" He states confidently, tapping the top of my head. I flinch at the sudden movement and give Craig the biggest frown I can possibly make. "I'd like to see you try."

*Several classes later*

I slowly make my way through the hallway, on my way to math class. "Hi there, bestie!" A voice shouts from beside me. I jump back and jerk my head around to see Craig standing there with the goofy grin of his. "What the fuck is wrong with you! You scared the living shit out of me!" I curse, anger bubbling inside of me. He giggles and I immediately soften. I let out a sigh before continuing my walk to math. "Hey! Wait up!" Craig calls out, quickly catching up to me. "I never caught your name~" He points out.
"Why do you care about what my name is. The only reason your trying to talk to me is because your friends challenged you to it." I say sullenly, hanging my head a little. Craig notices and pats my back. "They aren't the ones who challenged me, I was. They just told me that you didn't like anyone and you never talked to anyone. They said no one really knows much about you, so I want to get to know you and see who you really are!" Craig explains happily. My eyes widen a little in shock before I regain myself.
"Whatever, I'm gonna be late for class if I don't hurry. You better hurry too, it doesn't look to good to be late to class on your first day." I say, looking over at the door to my class. Craig fist pumps the air and jumps up with excitement. I raise an eyebrow at him as he lets out his famous giggle. "What's got you in such a good mood?" I ask, confused. "You're worried about me being late for class! That's a start! I'm so going to brag to my friends about this!" Craig squeals out of joy. I feel that tug from earlier tempt my lips as I reluctantly let the faintest hint of a smile fall on my face, making Craig even happier. "You're smiling! You're fucking smiling! Yes!" Craig cheers, giving me a quick hug before running off to class. I stand there, dumbstruck. He-He hugged me... S-Someone actually hugged me... He m-made me smile. I fucking smiled. I turn around and stumble into the classroom, gasping as I look around the room. Red walls... Blue chairs... Not everything has color, but... I'm starting to see it. What is Craig doing to me?!

(I'm going to answer a few questions real quick. One: Tyler isn't colorblind even though I made it seem that way. His life is just so dull and so dark that he doesn't really see colors. Two: Yeah, there's going to be a part 2 to this, so look out for that. That's all the questions, I think. If you have any just let me know~ 😘)
