"I've fallen for an Archangel"
PART 2.
So during dinner dad was telling me that the cohens will be arriving later on tonight with Michael for the summer holidays, YAY! I chime as I've been dying to ask Mr. Cohen a few questions about a case that he has just finished working on which got lots of media coverage over the past few weeks.
Definitely an A grade for me from Mr. Winters my journalism teacher when I return back to school at Stratford High after summer brake.
"Dad do you mind if I do the dishes when I get back I really want to ask Mr. Cohen a few questions on that Franks & Pauls case he's just finished working on while its still fresh in his mind I've just spotted their car (jet black stretch limousine) pulling into the drive and I'm sure he wont mind"?
"Shay it's late" I'm sure the cohen's just want to get inside unpack and settle down for the evening. "They've just had a 4 hour drive you know"
'Ahhh hello dad did you forget the small fact that none of them actually did any driving to get here Ernest did?"
"And Mr. and Mrs. Cohen did say I could call over anytime day or night when ever I wanted".
'Fine but make it quick Shay". Dad could never say no to me and I knew it.
Slipping into my sandals and grabbing my journal and pen I start making my way across the well manicured lawns to the front entrance of the grand cohen estate.
It's warm out and there's a small hint of jasmine scenting the air. I love night's like this. The stars always seem to burn extra brighter and closer than usual.
Ernest was just collecting the last of the luggage when he saw me appear,
Ernest has a well weathered warm friendly face he's the Cohen's country chauffer driver I'd say he's in his late 50's I've never really asked him his age before but I know he has 3 grown son's and he and his wife now live alone a few miles up the road and own a small farm with a few farm animals. Me and dad go there at least once a year to celebrate thanks giving or something a rather as their son's don't make it back much to see them. They've always been extra nice to me and have given me a birthday present every year since we've known them.
"Hi Shay how's your summer brake going?" "Hi Ernest it's going just great thanks" I reply back with a friendly smile. "Can I help you with one of those bags?" I ask "Its fine Shay I got it you look like a girl who's on a mission so I better not hold you up"
"Ok well I'm just going in to see if I can have a quick chat with Mr. Cohen see you around Ernest".
I wave bye to him as I bounce my way up the expensively grey tiled stairs and into the front foyer of which I've always guessed to be a twenty million dollar mansion - if that!
As I make my way through the foyer I hear Mrs. Cohen having a conversation with Betty their house keeper. "Well what a lovely surprise" Donsay says as she spots me making my way towards them. Donsay's stunningly beautiful and perfect as always from her head to her toes. "Hi Mrs. Cohen great to have you back how's the run ways of Milan been treating you?" "Oh busy as always hun you no what they say no rest for the wicked" she jest enthusiastically.
I could never in all my life imagine Mrs. Cohen ever being wicked she couldn't even hurt a fly.
"So what brings you by? How have you and your father been keeping?" She asks with genuine interest. "Me and dad are good thanks Mrs. Cohen I was kinda hoping to have a quick chat with Mr. Cohen if that's possible id like to ask him a few questions about the Franks and Pauls case he's just finished".
"Oh I'm sure that shouldn't be a problem Shay take a seat he's just taking a call in his study but he'll be out shortly". "Thanks Mrs. Cohen" I say as I take a seat on one of their black leather gold stitched sofa's - imported from god only knows where.
I don't feel nervous around Mr. and Mrs. Cohen after all I have known them since I was 4 and there more like a second family to me.
