"C'mon, Moon! We're going to be late for the plane!"Moon exasperatedly sighed, stopping her silent inquiry on if the city was going to fix the cracks in the sidewalk, and looked ahead to see Sun running in place a few feet in front of her. They were on their way to an airport near Hau'oli City, the first step in attempting to get some of the dexholders to help them.
"Sun, we have three hours till the plane leaves. The airport is a couple miles away. We have time." She muttered. Sun shrugged.
"Better we get there earlier than later!" He replied airily, extracting another sigh from Moon.
The taxi stop was up ahead, and Moon stopped to set her stuff down, Sun doing the same. The warm Alolan sun blazed in the sky above them, setting up a normal day for the citizens.
"Man, it's quite a beautiful day for us to leave, huh?" Sun remarked, trying to start conversation between the two. Moon shrugged. She was from Sinnoh*, and therefore was used to the cold.
"Eh, I think I'll prefer Kalos and its mountain air than to hot days like this." She replied. Sun looked at her in a mock-pout, which made the girl snort out of humor.
The taxi pulled up a few minutes later. Sun loaded all their travel possessions into the car, then hopped in along with Moon, and drove away to the airport.
_______________________________________________________The airport was not as busy as Moon expected.
She voiced this thought, and Sun looked at her weirdly.
"Why would anybody want to leave Alola?" He answered, grinning this time. Moon rolled her eyes.
"Me." She murmured under her breath. Sun laughed.
The two continued on their trek through the airport, passing security successfully and finding their gate. They had an hour left until the plane took off, thirty minutes till boarding. It was 5:45, and Moon was admittedly a bit hungry, as presented as her stomach rumbling.
"I'll go find some food." Sun offered, with a grateful nod from Moon. He set off with a cheeky grin for no apparent reason.
Moon let out a breath of air. This was going to take a lot out of her, this mission. She wondered if her seniors even cared...
No! She thought. Do not doubt yourself! Do not doubt the good in these people! Surely, they'll want to help, to reconnect!
Sun came back with a couple Malasadas, and handed her one. She eagerly took a bite of it, savoring the taste. Sun snickered a bit at her expression.
"Thanks!" She said after gulping down her meal. Sun gave her a thumbs up. Moon felt a little better with her stomach full.
But the thoughts were still lingering in her mind, casting a shadow on her previous enthusiasm. Moon put it in the back of her mind, self doubts should be the least of her worries.
___________________________________________________The airplane was causing Moon a headache. People were chattering excitedly, as if something exciting happened, and they had to tell somebody.
"I swear I'm going to pass out if the volume gets any louder." She muttered, taking out some headphones from her take on bag and putting them on. Sun shrugged, he didn't seem to mind as much.
Time passed, and the plane's engine roared to life. Moon looked out the window as the plane took up speed, and eventually lifted into the air. Her stomach dropped, and suddenly she was wracked with euphoria. She suddenly felt like this was going to turn out ok, she would succeed.
However, this only lasted a couple minutes, as a wave of tiredness crept up on her. With a small smile, she relaxed back into her seat, and closed her eyes
Her sleep was soon interrupted by none other than Sun, who she assumed was shaking her excitedly.
Moon tiredly opened her sticky eyelids. She wiped them, then straightened up and leaned off the window. She looked at Sun, who had a catty smile on his face. She turned back to the window, and saw the lights of Lumiose City. She, too, felt a smile creep up her face.
The flight attendant's voice came over the intercom, giving basic instructions as to get out of the aircraft. Moon heaved her bag on her shoulder, and waited to walk out. As Sun got out, she did too, and together they stepped out of the stuffy plane and into the terminal.
Soft ambient music was playing in the airport, and a comfortable scent wafted around. Moon yawned, her muscles aching from being asleep for so long.
"So." Sun started. "Kalos."
Moon looked at him and grinned. "Kalos indeed."
________________________________________________________________________
After waiting for their bags at the baggage claim, then waiting fifteen minutes to get a taxi to their hotel, Moon was glad to collapse on a bed without a care in the world.Sun, too, flopped on the other bed and stated "Kalos is colder and Lumiose is busier. That is my judgement so far." Moon snorted and rolled her eyes.
"No duh." She replied monotonously, ready to fall asleep then and there. Sun made a noise that sounded like a whale being strangled.
"When are we going to start looking? And where?" He inquired, propping himself up on the bedboard. Moon shrugged.
"Hopefully tomorrow, if I can get over the jet lag." She answered. "And I don't really know..."
That sent a pang of doubt into her head again. What was she thinking, not having a plan?
Sun looked thoughtful for a few seconds, then looked up, then thought some more. "Maybe we could ask the locals?"
Moon nodded. "That sounds fine." And with that, she stood up and turned off the lights of their small hotel room. Shrinking into the soft blankets of her bed, she drifted off to sleep, but not before saying "Night, Sun."
And somewhere in her peaceful, almost dreamlike state, she heard him say good-night too.
She could deal with the world and him tomorrow. That jetlag needed to be taken care of.
