Peyton

Peyton is a fuck-up. However, she does not know this - actually, she just prefers to ignore this fact. Either that or she just hasn't quite come to the realisation that this is who she is yet. But she is constantly reminded of her klutzy nature; for instance, now, when she walks into a wall.

"Shit! Ow, my nose!!" I said under my breath, quickly standing and checking for anyone watching or any signs of damage caused. This seemed to be  becoming a common occurrence since... the thing happened.

While scanning the room for faces looking in my direction, I noticed a lady that was standing, starring at me with wide eyes. She looked absolutely furious yet still somehow flawless.

I had knocked over a small pot of
paint brushes that was on the floor against the wall so I picked it up and casually placed it back... actually, it probably knocked me over.

Anyway.

I looked back towards the angry lady as I steadied myself and recovered from the shock of tripping and falling in public.

With angry strides she approached and I could help but smile at her beauty.

"Get. Out" she snarled but it had no effect, she was still perfect.

I decided to try my charm "it really hurt when I hit my nose" I waited but no response so I continued anyway "I bet it wasn't as painful as when you fell from heaven though"

Nothing.

Not a single word.

Not even really a breath.

"Ok... so where you from? I think I sense a bit of an accent. Dare I say Tennessee?"

"Really?!" she sighed and rolled her eyes.

"Well you're the only ten I see!" I winked.

Still nothing but a slight hint of amusement in her eyes.

When someone walked in, I yelled "HELP! HELP ME! I can't take my eyes off of this beautiful lady!"

Then she laughed lightly.

"Forgiven?" I smiled

"You're gonna have to do better than that!" She grinned back and I couldn't help but just stare for a minute. She was mesmerising! Everything about her was amazing but it just seemed to further glow when she let her lips curve up.

"Ok... here, I'll take you out for coffee. On the house"

"Ok..."May I ask your name, my queen? I'm Dawn and what is your name, good lady"

I completely ignored her and moved on.

We planned to meet in the afternoon. I couldn't wait! This was the first person that I had been interested in since... everything happened.

Just as I was about to leave, I grabbed her number and checked the name that she had put in.

"It was cool to meet you Dawn" I chimed, walking out the door and not letting her say anything back. I had to leave on a good note with a smile.

I walked straight toward the cafe where I knew my friends would be near. Jut as I got close, I found Faye and Celeste walking away from it. They were clearly heading home so I ran to join them.

On the way home, I told them what I did, avoiding who I had met.

"You're an utter idiot sometimes!" Faye chuckled.

Celeste agreed.

They're inseparable.

Once back to our flat, I began to complain about my stress. They knew why I was this way and so did I but I was avoiding it all. I hated what had happened and it really messed me up.

"Anyway, I met someone that I really like earlier" I blurted

The two of them gave me a look is if to say 'go on'.

"Um... her name is Dawn and I met her earlier when I knocked over some stuff in her shop. I'm meeting her for coffee later." I told them.

Faye began to talk "Why didn't you tell us Peyt-"

"I'm going to cancel"

"What?!" They screeched in unison.

"I can't. I'm too nervous." I shrugged.

"You know what? You're Peyton. You have confidence, swagger and charm on your side and you can get any girl that you want. Now go get 'um" Faye gave me a mini pep talk... and then pushed me out the door.

I headed down to Damen's flat on the way to his coffee shop to get changed. I preferred men's clothes so I borrowed his all the time. He was cool with it... I think.

I picked out a dark blue shirt and some jeans. Smart-casual. Perfect for a date or just a coffee. Cool. I was ready.

With the added confidence of looking good, I strolled straight to the shop.

The last few steps were daunting so I slowed down and looked in the window. Our eyes caught for a second and I smiled, placing my hand on the handle and pushing open the door.
