14: Why?

Lily's POV

"Calum!?"

"Hey Lily."

"I just...KISSED you!"

"Shhhh! Not so loud! Luke could hear."
He puts a finger to my lips.

Then he kisses me again.

I pull away instantly.

"What the hell Cal!!!"

"I'm sorry Lily. I'm sorry." He gets up and runs away from me.

"Wait! Cal I-"

Suddenly I feel lips kiss me under my ear.

"Hey babe! Don't ever do that again. You scared the shit out of me."

"I'm sorry."

"Just kiss me."

I pull him into me and we kiss.

I don't know why I ever left him.
This is all I need to be happy. To have Luke in my life. To have him kiss me. Love me.

We pull away.

"Why did you leave me Lily?"

"Luke...Hate. It's the hate. Someone told me to go kill myself. No one would ever care if I was gone."

He takes my face in his hands, forcing me to look in my eyes.

"I would. I would care. I would be nothing without you. My sun would not shine without you with me. My heart would be broken if you left me. I love you Lily. I'm dead without you here."

"I...I shouldn't be doing this. I love you. It's just..."

"It's just what Lily."

I stand up, leaving Luke alone sitting in the soft sand.

"Why me Luke? Why not ANYONE else in this frickin hateful world we live in. Why me? Just because I may be beautiful in your eyes doesn't mean I'm perfect for you? I'm not even a-"

"How could you say that? You are perfect for me. We're perfect for each other."

"But why?"

"Come here." He opens up his arms and I curl up into him. He wraps his arms around me.

"I chose you because...Lily...you are
Beautiful, caring, willing to try to date me and staying strong to be with me. You are caring, daring, funny. You make me smile, you make me happy. You light up the room when you walk In the door with a smile on your face. You're mine. That's why."

I feel tears streaming down my cheeks.

"I love you Lily. More than anything in the world."

I break down in his arms.

"I-I l-l-love you t-too Luke." I say between sobs.

"Hey. Hey...don't cry."

I wrap my arms around his neck and I bury my face in his neck.

"Luke. I want to be with you forever."

"Me too Lily."

"I want to have a family with you. I want to get married..."

"Why not get married now?" He shrugs.

I laugh and slap his arm playfully.

"Luke!"

"Hey!!! Lily........we could though. Let's do it tonight. Yeah. Let's get engaged and start a family tonight."

"Luke! No!!! Oh my god!" I giggle uncontrollably.

He pulls me into a warm, tight hug.

"I love you Lily."

"I love you Luke."

Then we sit there, holding each other, staring out into pitch black nothingness, hearing the waves crash against the shore.
