Skylar had awoken in Dean's arms. Her nightmares didn't seem to reach her when she was with him. She looked at the sleeping form of Dean in the dark. His breathing was even and he looked peaceful. She turned to the small window by his bed. Judging from the sky, it was probably around 3am, much too early to wake anyone up.

"Babe?" Dean mumbled groggily to Skylar as he stirred.

"Go back to sleep," Skylar said gently as she laid back down with him as he wrapped his long arms around her as his eyes closed. His breathing was still normal, so he was probably still awake.

"Why are you up?" he asked, his voice slightly cracking.

"It's nothing," Skylar said as she closed her eyes. She listened to the beating of his heart.

"Don't leave me," Dean said quietly.

"Why would I?"

"I see the scars," he replied. "Don't leave me here alone in this horrible world."

"Baby," Skylar said as she sat up and propped herself up against the wall next to his bed. Dean sat up as well. Wordlessly, he gently took her arm and kissed the scars that lined her fragile wrist. They were quite deep, and only from a few months back.

"Don't leave me," Dean repeated.

"I won't," was all she could say as he laid down and fell asleep again. He was obviously satisfied with her answer.

This made Skylar think. She would've never dreamed of a boy who would kiss her scars. She had always thought only a perfect boyfriend would do that and maybe Dean was just that. She thought of the events that had transpired in the last 24 hours. As her eyes slowly closed, she thought of her position in life and how happy she was despite her parents.

When Skylar had awoken again nearly 6 hours later, she found the bed empty. She could still smell Dean's distinct smell which was his cologne and the lingering scent of grass. Skylar heaved herself out of bed and slowly made her way to the dining room where she heard talking.

"Morning," Dean smirked as she sat down at the dining table with him, his mother, Mike, and his sister Veronica.

"Wait, if Skylar had stayed here overnight, where did she sleep-," Veronica started but Dean kicked her under the table so she would shut up. No one else had acknowledged that she had said anything except for Skylar who had blushed a little and Mrs. Olsen who was looking at Skylar amusedly. Mike was engrossed in a comic book he was reading which had a typical superhero on the front cover.

"I'll make something to eat," Mrs. Olsen said as she stood up and shuffled into the kitchen in the other room.

Dean was the youngest of the Olsen children, the same age as Skylar. Veronica and Mike were twins and only 2 years older than Dean. They all had the signature Olsen eyes, the darkest green she had ever seen. Skylar snapped out of her reverie as Mike finally looked up from his comic book.

"So, are you and Dean a thing now?" he asked casually. Veronica looked at Skylar as well as if she was thinking the same exact thing.

"Stop being nosy," Dean snapped at them before Skylar could reply.

"Dean..," Skylar started. He sighed.

"Yes," he told the twins plainly as wide smiles spread across their identical faces.

"I knew it! Mike, you owe me five dollars," Veronica laughed as she poked Mike in the side.

"What?" Dean sputtered.

"You were betting on us?" Skylar asked.

"Well, I said that you guys were never going to realize you two were perfect for each other and Veronica thought otherwise," Mike explained.

"We made a bet. Winner gets five bucks," Veronica smiled as Mike handed her a bill and she took it greedily.

"Breakfast is ready!" Mrs. Olsen announced from the other room. The delicious smell of bacon and eggs had wafted to the dining room and it smelled like heaven to Skylar. They grabbed their plates and food. As they sat down and ate, everyone was quiet until Mrs. Olsen spoke up.

"There's a new family that moved in yesterday right next door," she said. New families were rare in the small town of Hope. Hope was literally in the middle of nowhere. The last family that had moved in were Miles Tom's and that was when Skylar was in second grade.

"Yeah, I heard. They have a son and daughter. The son is Dean and Skylar's age and the daughter is slightly younger," Mike said.

"Let's go introduce ourselves," Skylar suggested.

"I'll go with you," Dean said as he paused the inhalation of his food.

"Alright. Anyone else care to join us?" Skylar asked.

"I have to go to work in 15 minutes," Mike said as he shook his head.

"Mom and I are going to bake cookies so we can bring them over to the new family after," Veronica explained.

"We'll see you guys later. C'mon, Dean," Skylar said as she put her plate away with Dean right behind her.

As she stepped outside, she noticed it was a bit chilly. She remembered she left her hoodie in Dean's room. She was still wearing her jeans from the day before and the same plain white v-neck.

"Here," Dean offered as he gave her his jacket.

"Thanks," Skylar paused as she shrugged it on.

As they approached the house, they rang the doorbell. The house was old, bright yellow paint chipping, stairs especially creaky, grass overgrown. But Skylar could see the beauty in it.

Suddenly, the door swung open as it revealed a guy. He was probably the same guy Mike was talking about. The one that's their age.

"You aren't the pizza guy," the boy said as he rolled his eyes and nearly closed the door but a younger girl intercepted before he could actually close it. Both of them looked alike, probably brother and sister. They both had ginger hair, hazel eyes, and both were tall and skinny. Both were attractive and the boy was dressed in all black which made him look mysterious in a way. The girl was wearing a dress, probably the preppy type, Skylar gathered.

"I'm Dean and I live right next door," Dean said as he introduced himself.

"I'm Skylar and I live right down the street," she smiled at the two. The boy's eyes widened when he saw her, almost like he had just noticed her existence. Skylar found herself staring back. He was attractive. She had to hand him that but she had a boyfriend already, she had to remind herself.

"Skylar you say? You sure are hot. Why don't you let me take you out, babe?" he asked as he tried to act charming. Dean cleared his throat. The girl elbowed the boy in the stomach.

"Sorry about him. I'm Payton, by the way," the girl smiled as she shook their hands. "And this is Hunter," she said as she gestured to the boy who had hit on Skylar.

"We were wondering if you wanted to go to the Park with us?" Skylar asked. Maybe they were nice people. Payton seemed nice enough. She wasn't sure about Hunter.

"Of course, we would love to," Payton smiled before her brother could say something rude or sarcastic. "Let me grab my coat," she said before she disappeared. Hunter slouched a bit as if he was too lazy to maintain a good posture. "Let's go," Payton smiled as she reappeared. Dean and Skylar walked along with them to the Park with Payton and Hunter in tow.

"I was still waiting for the pizza guy," Hunter said sadly as they walked down the street. For some reason, Skylar laughed at his joke and Dean gave her a look. She stopped.

This was going to be a long day.
