Religion

These dogs religion is based off of the gems. The gems are a holy thing to them and each rank is represented by a gem necklace they wear around their neck (don't ask how it's made)
Alpha | Diamond
To Be Alpha | Ruby
Beta | Onyx
Medics | Emerald
To Be Medics | Sapphire
Stone Seekers | Garnet
Stone Seeker To Be's | Jade
Warriors | Topaz
Hunters | Amethyst
Queens | Aquamarine
To Be's | Amber
Elders | Lapis
Pups | None

Becoming mates with a dog is also a very special thing. The male dog will present the female dog with a gem that he found (it can't be any listed above) and the female has the option to deny or accept him. If the female accepts the proposal she will set the rock to the right of him and if she denies she will set the rock to the left of him.

Becoming an alpha to be is also sacred. When the alpha sees a pup who he or she sees who has a special connection to the rocks the alpha will continue to watch the pup. If a to be alpha is not chosen and trained before the alpha's death the beta will take on the roll of being the alpha. The to be alpha learns what all the gems represent, how to find gems, a little of the herbs, hunting, and fighting but mostly what has to do with gems.

When the Alpha dies, the to be alpha goes to a sacred place called "The Fallen Gem" which is a large crystal that spikes up from the ground. The Betas will accompany the Alpha To Be. The two will touch their noses to the rock and be taken to what the dogs call "the after pack". The former Alpha will come down along with the Alpha To Be's decided love ones and preform a special ceremony.

When the Alpha has chosen an Alpha To Be, he or she will take them and present them to the After Pack at the Fallen Gem. They will once more touch noses with the Gem and have a special ceremony.

All To Be's must be taken to the Fallen Gem once before becoming a Warrior or Stone Seeker.

For Medics and Medic To Be's they will visit the Fallen Gem each moon to speak with the After Pack. At points the Alpha may accompany them when he or she is in need of advice.

When choosing a Medic To Be a Medic will observe a pup who takes an interest in herbs and will then propose the pup with the question. If they accept the Medic who chose the pup will present the pup to the Fallen Gem and to the After Pack and have a special ceremony.

In the old history of the Shining Stones Pack, every dog used to be named after a gem. Elders still speak of this but the naming after gems was thrown out a long time ago. A few conservative Queens may still name their pups after gems and generally an Alpha To Be will change his or her name to a gem's signifying their love and affection toward gems, but not all Alpha To Be's do.
