Oh my God, I can't believe I am actually doing this, thought Victor. With the sky getting dark and him in the middle of an unknown road asking for a ride to get to any city. Why was he so desperate? Even he wasn't able to think straight.

With his sweaty body and his straight long hair sticking in his forehead and the sun setting down, Victor was becoming desperate to get anywhere but staying on the road, which was getting emptier by the time. All those cars who stopped for Victor's request of a ride – which wasn't much – were refused, because he wouldn't feel comfortable with them. Who to blame? He grew up having to judge everyone by just looking at them. At least his gut was always right. Well... most of the time at least. His instincts were pretty good. Times in Brazil weren't easy, no. It wasn't a money issue nor a love problem, it was deeper. It was more like... Trust issues, yes, that's how he called it. And after his new discovery, everything was getting worse.

Suddenly a car stops for Victor and lowers the dark glass separating the driver and him. Victor could see a redheaded man in his 22 or 23, maybe. Using sunglasses, which Victor thought to be weird, because it was getting dark.

"Hey, where are you going?", asked Victor, trying to see if the stranger was a good guy.

"I am going to Vancouver, do you need a ride?", the driver replied with a smile on his face.

"That would be great", then the passenger's door was unlocked.

"Do you need to put something on the back?", Well, since I have only this small bag with some clothes and my laptop, I think it would be better to keep it with me... thought Victor.

"No, I just have this bag", said the traveler, but before he got into the unknown driver's car he mentally noted the car plate. And then they began the trip. A trip that would change a lot in both of their lives.
