VICTOR

I was wondering about all of the things that happened to me in the last week since I came to Canada, while wandering around this cold city. It was winter, and thanks to myself I remembered to buy a good coat. -3ºC. That's what the outside thermometer from an animal store was showing. This city is so empty. I know it's in the middle of the night and it is cold, but still... Not a single person on the streets.

I must have been walking for about half an hour when I felt a hand on my shoulder. My body felt the danger and I quickly held that hand on my shoulder and turned the guy's wrist on the back of the one who dared touching me. I was about to break his hand when I saw it was Cole

"Oh, sorry man, I didn't think it was you", I tried to apologize.

"No problem, Vic. But what did you think? That someone was going to rob you?", he asked me amusedly while rubbing his wrist to make the pain go away. I just nodded.

"Wow, no, man, this town is one of the safest towns I know, don't worry about something like it in here. No, actually, don't worry about those things in this country. It's Canada!", he simply told me like if there were no dangerous people in his country. Crazy guy... Be prepared. Better safe than sorry is my current motto.

"Okay. But why were you following me?", I changed the subject.

"Well, I was tired of being in that room, so I decided to come here and give you a tour. You said you're from Brazil, right? So I am assuming this is your first time in Canada. So, what do you say?", he proposed.

"Not the first time, no", I informed him, "I thought you just stopped in a random town, do you know this place?", I got curious, one minute we were on the road, the next we were just in a random town? Well, it seems it's not random at all...

"I used to come here a lot when I was a child, of course a lot of things have changed and that's why I couldn't find a good place to stay so fast"

"Okay then, you can start by telling me who you are", I said, apparently surprising him.

"Who am I? Oh, right, you don't know me. But why do you want to know about me?"

"You were boasting when we were in your car, remember? And you're my ride."

"Oh yes, right. You'll see who I am soon.", for some reason, by his looks, it seems he doesn't want me to know who he is, but I don't know, I am not good at reading people's faces, their emotions can get very complicated pretty quickly.

***

He seemed like a nice guy, he likes to talk. A lot. Like he doesn't even need to catch his breath! But he's friendly. He could be a nice guide tourist, because he told me everything he could about that city and its buildings and things. He's pretty smart as far as I can see. We've been wandering around the city for more than an hour. Which surprised me, because I thought it would be a simple tour in a simple small town.

"... And now, the most important part, Vic", he pointed with both of his hands to a circular building, I couldn't say what was that because it was dark, I tried squeezing my eyes but nothing. He saw my face and started to talk again:

"Really? You don't know what this is?", I guess he couldn't guess I wasn't able to actually see the building.

"Uh, no?!"

"Oh, come on, let's get in there"

"But it's closed, man. We can't break in buildings like this", I said trying to stop his idea.

"Do you trust me?", that's all he said.

Do I trust him?

"Not really no", I replied and he looked surprised.
