Anahi sighed and folded her arms across her chest, she continued to routinely sigh every few seconds in hope Nomu would ask her whats wrong. After a few minutes of doing this to no avail and moves seats to be opposite him and starts talking to him whether he liked it or not.
"Can you believe I have to marry some human peasant Nomu? How dare they force me into this arranged marriage just to create the illusion we're equal. Maybe you could marry some human Princess and then I wont have to marry some dirt- I mean satisfactory level of cleanliness human. What do you say?" She nudged him with her foot gently, kicking him with full force as he continued to ignore her. She sat there silently, examining her perfectly filled nails a pout forming on her face as she thought about Nomu ignoring her. She kicked him again.
Nomu yawned and sat up, wiping dribble from his face and looking at her with a dazed expression. Her face recoiled in disgust, why were boys so simple and irritating.. She moved back to her original seat.
Suddenly his second eldest brother Amon entered the room and sat down as quickly as he had entered. Nomu sat up straight and his sister wiped the look of disgust off her face and changed it to a soft smile. They knew their father was coming, he was quick to discipline them if they were not acting in the correct manner; although he wasn't the kind to deal out praise unless it was to Cyneric. Nomu looked over at Amon, he'd always been the shy type so he knew little about him; his eyes were a beautiful sky blue and his hair was short and brown. He was the most plain looking of them all and was given less attention than Nomu.
They sat in silence as they heard their fathers heavy footsteps approaching the room, this was the routine every morning; they wait for their father before breakfast begins..only Cyneric was allowed to eat whenever he liked. It was a rather tedious rule for the unwanted children but how could they refuse, when their father is the king. The tall, well toned man entered the room and scanned across the room with his icy cold grey eyes before taking his seat at the end of the table. Thanor the philanderer should be his name, all of the siblings were from different mothers, he would throw away his wives like used tissue and get a new one if he grew bored of them. Being the youngest child, Nomu's mother and the king were still married; the kings longest relationship lasting 17 years...so far. If you ignore the sleeping with maids.
Thanor scratched his head and slammed his fist on the table, causing the three siblings to jolt up in shock and fearfully look over at their father.
"Food!" He shouted at the servants who quickly brought a feast fit for a king out and placed it down the table, it was far too much for breakfast and most would go to waste but who cares right? Not like royalty has to worry about such matters. The peasants can worry about that.
Thanor began to tear into his food with his hands and teeth like a barbarian, despite insisting on perfect table manners for his children; his manners would have him thrown out of his own banquet. He glanced over at Anahi and flashed her a rare, but forced smile. "You shall meet with that human prince tomorrow, what was his name again..." The cogs began turning in his brain and he snapped his fingers "Nope, its gone... Doesnt matter anyway. Just make sure to impress him. You're my only daughter.." he placed his food covered hand on her shoulder, dirtying her new dress to which you could see her screaming internally. "You have to do this for peace." he said in a serious tone. My father had heard rumors of a war and wanted anything but, he wished to rule unchallenged and so marrying off his superior offspring to a human prince would show his solidarity.
He returned to eating his food. Anahi clenched her fists in her lap, biting her lip and looking down, she desperately wanted to not marry a stranger but she was frightened to say it to her father. She looked up at him, gathering some courage she blurted out what she had wanted to say for weeks.
"Father, I wont marry him." she said in a soft but serious tone, her two brothers looked up in shock; they knew what this meant. Thanor dropped his food onto his plate with a thud and looked over at her his eyes narrowed. He looked down at the table and stood up suddenly, throwing his plate and food onto the floor in Anahi's direction. "You will marry him!" He shouted and began pacing in anger. Nomu and Amon stayed silent, looking down and continuing to eat their food as not to gain attention from their angry father. Anahi looked around at her brothers as if asking for help, but what could they do. "I-I'm sorry father..." She was shaking and stumbling over her words. "I'll marry him..I'm sorry.." She looked at the floor in defeat and hoped he would forgive her. He left the room in a fit of anger. "Clean this up bitch!" He shouted at Anahi and she looked in disbelief at the command but got on her knees and began picking up food scraps and broken china.
Nomu slid his chair back, making a loud noise on the floor. "Well, another great breakfast. Same time tomorrow?" He jested as he left the room. He was finally free for the rest of the day, being a mistake had its perks. Nomu returned to his room where his maid was waiting with his usual cloak, she wasn't pleased with Nomu going down to the village but it wasn't her place to make demands. She lifted the cloak onto his back and tied it, he smiled at her and then proceeded to leave the manor.
"Where should we go today..hmm" he looked up at the sky and began walking with no real direction.
